First I would like to express my dissatisfaction with my Dealer
(Goodrich in Johnson City NY), impossible to deal with, hard to get warranty work, wants 3K more for the same tractor than the guy down the road. Won't stand behind a warranty unless you buy the tractor from him, and he lets you know that when you talk prices.

My air filter bracket broke, dealer has three customers with this broken in 4 weeks. Took three weeks and numerous phone calls to get the dealer to submit it. Kubota took weeks to approve it. 5 weeks to approve an $11.00 part, what happened if it a something more serious broke preventing me from using the tractor?

Called the dealer today and he said it was approved. He then asked me if I would like one ordered? Umm let me think about that? YES!

I persued this because I want Kubota to know that the design is weak and needs fixing.

Now lets see how long and if the part comes in.

One question why didn't you just go to the guy down the road?

I think it is just the dealer, I have had my dealer look at stuff all the time and he makes the call and has fixed everything under warrentee. I don't know if it is HIS warrantee or the manufacture's but I don't pay and it gets fixed so I am happy.

There are many dealers who service tractors they sold first.
Service is something that needs to be considered in buying and is sounds as if you knew that when you bought from the other dealer if he told you that.
If you have serious issues with Kubota on a part, or dealers, call Kubota, but do so after speaking to the owner of the dealership. I can get pretty blunt too...ask General Motors, Intel, etc over products that did not meet expectations.

It's real hard to not but from the guy down the road when he was over 3000 cheaper on the identical tractor and implements. Do you pay 3000 for 2 years of better service during the warranty period? Thats to much for me to accept.
The dealer works this to his advantage too much. I told him I would pay 300 over what the guy wanted down the road to get his "acceptance" and better service. He wouldn't move on his price.

When you say down the road how far are we talking? My Kubota dealers are 20/50/75 miles away. I when I got quotes it was from my 2 closest and Carver Equipment in the carolina's. The guy clostest to me was about 500 more than Carver and the other guy acted like a car salesman and said this is my best deal but if you find it cheaper maybe we can work a deal. I personaly dislike salesman and won't deal with them.

Yes you are right, this dealer was about 50 miles away.
My local dealer has been able to keep any competition from getting too close. There was a dealer 20 miles away that wanted to carry Kubota, they basically told this dealer to keep clear.
If I used my tractor for a living I could see paying leaps and bounds more for local service, but all I have is a BX and you pretty much have to risk a warranty issue and save the 3000 dollars. Several of my friends have been interested in the BX and have received the same warm welcoming. They intend on buying it elswhere the same as me.

I thought that you already had the tractor from your local dealer. I am glad to see that you still have the option of getting it somewhere else. Maybe if your friends are looking for a tractor you could try and work a group purchase from the dealer down the road. I know the BX's are flying out of my local dealer.

I have three Kubota dealers within 10 miles of my house...in three different directions. What's not to like about that???

I had a similar experience with the local John Deere dealer, which is why I am now the happy owner of a Kubota BX2200. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was shopping for a 455D garden tractor with loader, etc. The guy quoted me FULL LIST PRICE of $14,955 on a written quote. As I walked out the door the guy said wait, if you find a better deal come back and we will beat it ... we want your business. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif As if after I did all the shopping and got a good deal, I am going back to the dealer who blew me off in the first place, so he can beat it by a lousy 50 bucks or something.

Sayonara to that dealer, I have since bought a tiller and I'm also looking for a generator. Needless to say not from that dealer.

I've always believed in the "give me your best price up front" theory. As much as I liked doing business with my first Kubota dealer, this was what got the business for my present dealer. But I don't play games, either. I don't give them the benefit of another dealer's price. They need to come up with the deal all by themselves...and then I start bargaining, if appropriate! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
