I don't have my tractor yet, so I can't be of a lot of help, but I can tell you one thing. Oak leaves have very high amounts of acid in them. I think mulching is great, that is what I plan to do (after serious thought about a bagger). So if you have a lot of Oak leaves in the lawn be prepared to have to add a little extra something to the grass to deal with all the mulched in acid.

I use an old lawn sweeper that was bought at an auction for $10.00 about 6 years ago. Had to rig a hitch to the front. Serves my purpose, even picks up my pine needles and pine cones. The bag is rotting away and the brush is worn down so I guess it's auction or garage sale time again....

I don't use a bagger on my 1500. On the occasions when the clippings clump up I just make another pass over those areas and that seems to make them disappear

Bagger sbagger. Waste of time to me to empty it all the time. Let the clippings fall where they may and provide nutrients for the lawn. I found too that mowing higher and dryer is best if you can do it. I'm with TheKid on the clumps, if you get'em, just mow over them again.
My BX23 with a 60' MMM seems to cut the grass pretty fine so that helps as well. And with about 7 acres to mow you can see why I don't bag.

I bought an Agrifab lawn sweeper last year from Lowes. It was very similar to the Sears model and about $100 cheaper. I run a 50" mulching deck on a JD 455 towing the sweeper and pile the clippings at one end of the area being cut as required. After I finish cutting I gather the clippings in my FEL bucket (generally 8-12 trips) and transport to my compost piles.
