I ordered the newer wheel/tire set. You can order turfs, R1 or R4 for any BX model, 2660 or BX25, it doesn't matter, they are all the same.

Quotes will vary. $400 seems about average.

One glitch you might run into is that tires are suddenly becoming scarce and no one explains why this is so. The new tire excise import tax of 35%?? I don't know. Some say production is down a bit at Kubota???

I just made sure I ordered the wheel/tire kits for the current 2660 or BX25 because I wanted the 10" wheels. I just did. I cannot even vouch for the older 8" wheel with 18" tire with 8.5 width as fitting. I don't know.

What you see pictured are the now standard 18x8.5-10.
The backs are the long time standard 26x12-12

Alright my friend you had me hooked as soon as you posted the pictures. :) :) :) Yes, I'm "wanting" more than I'm needing but you what ? I'VE EARNED IT." I want to pay cold hard cash for the new rims and tires. This is for sure my next project (Unless of course Harry calls me and says his leaf vac is ready for purchase :D :D :D.)

Ratios.

OK, 4WD issues. Here goes.

I researched living daylights out of this. In a nutshell? it's within acceptable tolerances. Short and sweet? Ratio with original tires was 1.4444
Ratio with new tires? 1.5

The difference is quite acceptable and within 5%. 3.85% actually. If you run your BX on hard surfaces, there is nothing I can say. All I have is loose surfaces here. Sand, dirt, and snow. Not alot of tension on any surface I have.

Finally, the cost and the wife. :D

I want two sets of tires and wheels, but I don't want three!!!

So what's going to go? The turfs. I don't have a belly mower and never will. If some mythical future owner wishes to attach a belly mower one day, he/she will have to put the smaller shoes and socks back on it. But that isn't likely.

OK, put the turfs on Craigs. Gone!! in three days. $350. Afterall, they were virtually new take offs. The guy needed 'em and NOW. Fine with me.

Wife VERY happy. :)

Well said about the MMM. Now what about the wife ? Mine still thinks I'm crazy about the whole tractor ownership issue. She doesn't understand what drives a man as he gets older !!!

Epilogue

Why R4? Well, to be honest, I would have preferred my two sets to be turfs and R1s. The dealer I was working with had some delay and difficulty getting tires, as I previously mentioned. He had this set of R4s and I decided to take them as my "turf" tires or "everyday" tires. They will be fine for most of my mundane tasks. But I have a R1 set back ordered and back ordered.. will they ever come!! I still want R1s for snow plowing and my dirt tilling work.
Can I trust the R4s to do it all? Shrug? I doubt it somehow.

Isn't changing a pain? Ha!! You need to see my shop. I can change these wheels and tires out like I was working the #48's pit crew with Chad Knauss!!! Well, almost. :D:D No problem.

That's it for tonight. 'Nite all.

Now hold on a minute old man, my favorite is Dale Jr and although they are now on the same team doesn't mean Jimmy is my number #2 man. #24 is my number #2 and Johnson is my #3. :D :D :D

Not to break in on this two man dialogue :) but since these wheels and tires are wholegoods, do you have part or stock numbers you can post BP fick? Very cool photos and I'd be very interested in doing this as well at some point, but I do use my 1860 for mowing with the 54" deck, so my guess is that will be a brick wall I won't be able to overcome. What are your measurements between front and rear tires if I might ask. Thanks for taking this on and posting your results with pic's.

Hey Chris,

LOL, just seemed like a 2-way, it really wasn't intended.:D We took it to PMing to avoid any more of it, once MT allowed me to finish the story line.  You COULD order by "part number" but it isn't necessary. Just order a set of wheels/tires for a BX25 or BX2660, for example.

Nope, I don't think you can do anything, if your 54" inch MMM is mounted. That is just the penalty for losing 3" of stretch length. But measure and see. The fronts are irrelevant. It's the backs. Do you have an inch to spare? Going from 24" to 26" is not 2" inches of course, just one.
