Yes, the BX1500 is being discontinued in 2006. The new line up wil be:
BX1850D - 18hp, 3 cylinder diesel
BX2350D - 23hp, 3 cylinder diesel
BX24TLB - 23hp, 3 cylinder diesel
Hope this helps. Lewis
Thanks, I was afraid they'd do that. I wonder if the BX1850 price will be lowered, to bring it down to where the 1500 was. Otherwise this may be reason enough to get the 1500 now.
I presume that whatever Kubota brings out as its new top of the line garden tractor will fill the niche previously held by the BX1500. Am I correct? How will this unit compare and contrast to the BX1500? Will it have a FEL available? What size/type engine? Garden tractors usually have no ROPS, will this one? Will it have limited 3ph and rear PTO? Will a Woods BH6000 be capable of fitting it? Other pertinent details?
JD has some garden tractors that are bigger than 'Bota's BX2230. They did this as a marketing ploy so they could get around their dealer contracts and sell these things widely and more cheaply through dealers (big box stores, etc.) who sell low end stuff and have no ability to service them. BTW, these huge JD "garden tractors" have no ROPS. This JD decision was driven by $ alone, with no consideration to safety and service. I hope Kubota isn't heading down this same road.
The BX1850 will be the same frame size as the 1500 with a larger engine. Kubota did a great job of holding the line on the price - can't remember exactly where it falls, but it is within $100 - $200 of the 1500, if that even. I'm very excited about that one - a small sub that will easily handle a 54" deck.
