I have a 2004 BX1500 and it is getting weak in high range, right now the pump just seems to wine in high gear and the tractor has a hard time getting going.. the fluid lever is fine.. Do i need to rebuild the pump or drive? I have changed the filter and oil not that long ago.

What kind of hyd oil did you put in the trans. Did you use Kubota filters? Did you clean the strainer when you changed the Hst oil and filter?

Just on the off chance this may have happened, are you certain that you changed the hydro fluid and filter and not the engine oil and dilter? Some old tractors did use that same oil system for both, but most tractors now have separate systems. You probably know that, but I'm asking just on the slight chance you might not have.

I changed the engine oil and the hydro oil (filled from the back in the 3 point hitch, and filter next to the front mower deck PTO) Is there more that two oil systems on this thing? It gets worse as the fluid gets hotter.

Oh and I have only used Kubota products

I just added a small shim to the valve tonight seems to have helped.. Need a gauge to confirm the PSI.

No, two is it. Possible explanations that come to mind are: obstruction in line somewhere, kink in hose somewhere, bad pump. Sorry not to be more help.

thanks for the info guys, im pretty mechanical inclined.. but have no idea about tractors.. I do alot of turbo, engine and fuel injection stuff+ TIG/MIG welding...

Would the pressure relief spring just be weak.. I did add a small shim.. it seemed to help lot.. not too sure if its fixed but I will know in the morning when I go to put the bucket on it and load it up when digging in a pile of top soil..

I will also check the screen

If it is an HST flow problem, doubt the pressure relief will matter. Answer Dex's questions:

- What oil and filter did use for the HST?
- How many hours since the suction screen was cleaned?

(PS: high range ain't what ya use for loader work)

- What oil and filter did use for the HST? Kubota brand from the dealer
- How many hours since the suction screen was cleaned? 75H or so

(PS: high range ain't what ya use for loader work) True but it has a hard time moving on flat ground with just the mower deck on. Makes a hum and does not want to move.

thanks again for the help guys

I know this is a silly question but have you checked the brakes. If the brakes are stuck or left on then it will operate in low range but not in high range. Just a thought.

Did you clean the metal strainer? A blocked strainer can lead to exactly what you describe.

Its part 030 in the pdf attached. It just looks like the head of a large bolt.
The full parts manual is here.. Kubotabooks.com

And its mentioned in Messicks excellent service advice...
