Good information from the boys as always. I have a hard time sometimes engaging the 4wd but a tap on the pedal many times allows the 4wd to engage easy. Never force anything to engage which won't go easily.
The compression of a diesel is way higher than a gas motor as was mentioned. Enjoy your new workhorse.......

( How many hours on the BX1500?
2 hours

Do you wait for the glow plugs to heat before starting?
Yes, based on the air temp at the time and the manual. A few seconds yesterday (mid 40's). I still hear what I assume to be the fuel pump (clicking, grinding noise) while the glow plugs are heating.

4WD - use only off road - never on pavement. You won't need it unless going up steep stuff, on slippery stuff, or if pushing hard with the front loader. It works great!
Thanks. That's good info. I only used it to back up the wood ramp to the storage barn. It was wet and muddy, but once I had the 4wd engaged it went right up.

( Greetings,

Took delivery of new BX1500 w/48"mmm and FEL yesterday

Also, I noticed that it was VERY reluctant to shift into 4wd. It took a considerable amount of pedal rocking before I could coax the lever into 4WD without (I think) too much pressure on the lever. )

It will shift easily, if you can relieve the weight on the front wheels by pushing down on the FEL. Otherwise, keep nudging the HST pedal until the gears line up.

( I'm not sure whether "rolling" is the right word. Personally, I'd only do it barely moving; i.e., stop and if it doesn't go into 4WD easily )

Bird,

I think the key to engagment of the 4WD is not so much if you are moving at slow speed but do not engage when the wheels are spinning. You have to move things enough to line the gears up.

What helps me the most to shift into 4wd is to lift the front end of the tractor slightly off the ground with the FEL.

You're right, Kevin, that's what I meant; just didn't explain it well enough.

Yup - I roll it out on concrete. It will roll out by itself on the garage apron.

you maybe glad you got the smaller MMM because you may get a cleaner looking cut. I have the 60 MMM and I have never got a super clean looking cut from it, It may just me though because I haven't heard anyone else complain.....

As far as disengaging the 4wd lever I found that if I turn steering wheel completely to the left then gently pull on the 4wd lever as I move forward and turn to the right, it pops out of 4wd every time.
