I might suggest, that if the tires don't look healthy and you want to change them out, you might just order a full set of wheels and tires from a Kubota dealer, from Kubota Whole Goods. A full set, of either turfs or Ags can be ordered for around $400. You'd be hard pressed to buy just tires alone for that. They come on the truck to your dealer, all mounted, tires and fresh new orange wheels.

Order the set for the BX1870 and they will fit your 1500 just fine.

Uploading photos to TBN is a bit clunky. I feel your pain.

I tried putting a tractor picture on so it would come up when I post. I have the pic on my profile but it doesn't come up when posting. Any suggestion from anyone?

Thank you

I usually find a third grader to help me.

Me too but they are all grown up and out of the house.

Great verse!

I was recently able to pick up a bx1500 while cleaning out an estate. It has been under tarps for at least 6 years. I charged up the battery and got the dashboard to light up a bit. The fuel pump buzzes and the solenoid clicks after I shut off the key, but no indication of wanting to turn over. I have an L3400 that I have had for 8 years. This bx is familiar, but just different enough to make me look for an owners manual. The air filter is clean and the engine oil looks good, but I plan on changing all fluids soon. Any advice on getting it to turn over would be appreciated Fuel and fuel filters first? Thanks in advance!

The battery is junk. Put in a new one and it'll turn right over. You might be able to get away with jumper cables, but that's not a guarantee with a diesel.

Yep first thing is battery... don't screw around and just get a new one. I would replace the fuel filters and oil and filter too straight off. Good luck.

BP, will the 1870 tires fit the BX1500 with 48" MMM and not cause any clearance issues? You have me thinking now about upgrading my turfs.

The only "set" of wheels and tires that Kubota now sells, from Whole Goods, is the 1860/1870 set. The diameter is what matters.

About 6 years back, I reckon, Kubota went to a lower profile, contemporary looking front tire. This allowed them to put a larger wheel on the front, but the overall diameter didn't change. The entire BX line got this new look. I personally prefer the old look because having more sidewall makes for a slightly more comfortable ride, ihmo. The newer, lower profile front BX look is very unforgiving and there is almost no side wall to cushion at all. Shrug.

Bottom line? If the outside diameter of the new BX1870 is the same as what's on your old BX1500? You'd be good to go. This assumes the bolt pattern is the same and I'm pretty darn sure it is.

Wiggle the PTO engage lever, my safety switch gets dirty and prevents the starter from turning. Needs cleaning, maybe use electrical contact cleaner around the switch.

Agree with above: change the fuel and fuel filters too.

I put a serious battery in it today and it started right up. It ran just fine and the only problem (so far) is a leak in the steering cylinder. We'll try to fix that when we drain all the fluids. After six years under a tarp it sounded wonderful. I couldn't believe it. Now the work begins. We got the 54" mower with it and upon closer examination realize that it has never cut grass. The underside looked new and there was no evidence the blades had ever cut anything. I seriously need to get an owner's manual. Thanks again for all the advice from everyone.

Put the pic in your avatar, and it can't more than so many KB or it won't load.
