Kubota BX1800
I just returned from my local dealer. I've been considering a BX2200 / 60" deck, but today my delaer tells me Kubota is offering a $300 rebate on the BX1800 w/54" deck.

Since I will use the tractor for primarily mowing, I'm not sure if I can pass up the deal on the BX1800.

He quoted a price of $8750 for the BX1800 w/54" deck.

I'll be adding a Woods tiller, about another $1300 and FEL.

How's the price look ????

LOOKS GOOD! I just bought a 2200. But I started out looking at the 1800. The best price I found in three states for the bx1800 was 9250.00 with a 54". So even without the rebate looks like you are doing good to me.

I have the 2200. Dealer told me he wasn't going to sell the 1800 anymore because it was just 300. dif on the price and you get the bigger engine.

A frind of mine bought the 1800 last year and traded it in for the 2200 this spring... He said he loved everything about the 1800 but he need the extra hp and although he lost some money with his mistake he is very happy with the 2200. Has made a big difference in what he uses it for.

My take is it's not much extra money over the life of the machine.... And, when you get the new tractor, get the loader with it. It's like having a shirt with two pockets. Wife even uses it and in the end it helped me justify the initial cost of the tractor. Certainly cannot hurt the resale or trade-in.

I have owned a BX1800 with the 54" MMM for about one year now. With hindsight I would have to concede that the prevailing logic that the incremental cost of the BX2200 is so small that the best value is in the BX2200 makes sense. On the other hand, I would at least submit one argument. For me (home on three wooded acres with about one acre of lawn) the BX1800 is clearly overkill. I bought it because it offered a level of quality and durability which could not be equalled. Furthermore, the TPH and 4-wheel drive offered a range of additional uses (snowblower, boxblade, FEL, etc.) that I thought I would never "outgrow" its versatility. I think that nothing to date has changed that conclusion. Although I would prefer to have the BX2000 or, better, the BX22; in reality the BX1800 does everything I could ever hope to need. I think that whatever we own, there are always going to be periods of "tractor envy". When all is said and done, it is usally best to set a budget which is at least remotely related to our needs and resources, and then stick to it. It is simply not clear to me that I would derive any additional utility by owning a larger unit.

I've had a BX 1800 for a year and a half now with the 54" deck, a 40" Rotary mower and a front mount snowblower. I tried the 60" deck but due to tree placements etc needed the smaller mower. The 1800 has done everything I've asked including pulling a 7' rake when I cleaned up after a septic tank rehab. I've never had the engine lug down even when blowing heavy wet snow. No doubt, if I were planning to sell the tractor in the future, the 2200 might be easier to move but I'm convinced that given the quality built into the BX, it will be many years if ever before I have to consider trading or selling so it really makes no difference. I have found that purchasing the tractor is only the first step and in the long run it might be the cheapest. I think that you'll find as most of us have as you use the BX that you'll see and want implements for it that can add up to more than the price of the tractor. If that is the case, the money saved on the tractor is well spent for implements and the 1800 will run anything that the 2200 will run.
