I have not posted here for quite a few a years and when I did it was in the Toolcat section. I no longer own Toolcats, but I did recently purchase a 2006 BX1850D Kubota that runs well but is having issues with the Transmission. Very little to no power both forward and reverse. Additionally, it ‘squeals’ like there is a restriction or cavitation. I have replaced all filters and fluids (oil, air, hydraulic, and fuel) as well as remove and clean the pickup screen tube in the Trans. I have also confirmed that the Pedal is functioning correctly, and that the linkage is tight and functioning correctly. After changing fluids and filters I drove it and almost didn’t get it back into my driveway. I have contacted a mobile mechanic as I don’t believe it has enough power to get it on a trailer. Unfortunately, the mechanic is some time out. I’m hoping that someone has had the same experience and can point me in the right direction. Thank you!

The squealing sound makes it sound like a stuck hydraulic relief valve or something forcing it into relief, like the three point lever.

Is there no travel power in either direction?

If I remember correctly the BX had a single pump with priority flow control. The priority flow was for steering and then was charge flow for the HST. Does the steering work?

There have been reports in the past of the priority valve failing.

Thank you both for your responses, much appreciated! The steering works as do the attachments i.e. Bucket and Drag Box. It will start to 'travel' and then loose power and will then start moving again after cycling the pedal a few times. I'm going to see if I can get it on a trailer and head for the dealer. Thank you again!

Was the lack of movement a sudden change or something that gradually got worse?

Hi! Thank you for your response! The unit is new to me and the previous owner has passes away and was purchased from the Widow, so I have little to no history. The tractor was being used by Tenants (renting the home) and when it would no longer function correctly, they parked it. I did have a mobile mechanic evaluate the unit and found many additional problems. In addition to the transmission issue, we have also discovered that the previous owner had an extremely heavy Blower Unit installed on the front that resulted in both front hubs cracking and leaking all fluids from the front diff. I'm already into it for a new Cluster and Canopy and now facing an additional $7,000 in parts and labor. My fault for not doing a PPI.... Thank you again for all of the responses, it is greatly appreciated. I'm being told I will have it back in a few days...

I have a BX25, 12 years old or so. Several years ago, I was tilling with it. Got into position to do the last pass, and no forward. Hmm. And no reverse! Towed it out of the garden, winched it onto trailer, and to the mechanic. He found the transmission case was cracked. And considerable shrapnal in in the case. total rebuild. $10,000! Turns out the PTO for the tiller was a tiny bit too long. I'd bought the Kubota tiller from a friend who had the tiller mounted on another brand tractor, and I had used the set up after purchase for over 10 years, go figure. That was a big ouch for sure. Kubota dealer properly sized new PTO shaft. Transmission work not done my Kubota dealer, but a friend that I trust that works on all kinds of equipment for 40 years.
