Tractor
Kubota BX22 that was left to me by a dear friend. B7300 w/MMM
Not sure if I've posted this before or not. I did a search and couldnt find it if I had...... A dear friend passed away this past November and in his will he left the little tractor and all implements to me. Here are a few pics of the tractor and implements.

I havent done any thing to the tractor until now since I wasn't sure if it was going to actually be mine or not. You'll see the cowling is off the tractor. I took it off to repair several fuel leaks. It has 1180 hours on it.

Looks like a little TLC and a new seat and you'll get lots of work done. Contratulations, and of course, sympathies.

I am so sorry for your loss....I have an item like that and for a while every time I saw it I cried....now I see it and I smile knowing he wanted me to have it and use it....I think of him every time I use the machine and think of the times we had together.

I think I would get a new seat but keep the old one. Clean up your machine and it will serve you well forever. A tractor can always be fixed and you will have your friend with you every time you are on your tractor.

He was elderly and I've lived next door to him for the past 14 years. I've known him since I was a teenager. Worked for him and his family back in the 70's, when he was in his 30s, on their dairy farm when I was in high school. When he quit farming in the late 70's he went to Alaska and got on with the pipe line. He was a mechanic welder. He retired from Aleaska in 95 and moved back to MS. He built a house on 22 acres next door to me in 99. When I got off work he and I would sit around, chew the fat, swap lies and just enjoy life. I always helped him if he needed it.

He'd gone back to Alaska when I originally posted this thread to spend time with his children who were all raised in Fairbanks. He told me to keep an eye on the tractor and use it like it was my own. I think he knew he was sick when he went but didnt say anything. He did go as far as saying that he may very well not come back and if that was the case the tractor would be mine. But he did come back in September.

I found him passed away at his barn sitting on a stool at his welding table when I got off work the Friday before Thangsgiving. He had just turned 70.

By todays standards that's young! Sorry for the loss.

A little tlc with that tractor will go along way. I would start with a complete fluid and filter change if that hasn't been done.

Sounds like he was a dear friend and sorry for your loss.

Nice tractor with all the tools you will ever need.

Now as far as that HST pedal adapter arm with the piston on top, that is worth a new thread by itself!!!

Jim's back was pretty well torn up from all the hard work he did on the pipeline and it hurt his back when he used the HST pedal. Thats one of the little customizing things he did.

He extended the 3PT hitch arms so it would hook up to other implements that it normally couldnt.

My being able to keep the BX and implements is coming in to question. My friend left some credit card debt and its intirely possible that the probate court will make me sell it all off to cover the debt. I'm hoping that those that filed claims against the estate wont show up for court. We will just have to see.

CC companies can be heartless, but they also can cut you some slack....my mother did the same thing to me and left me a mountain of CC debt....call the CC companies, tell them what is going on....they may cut you some slack.....

This is going to sound horrible but this is why you get 20 copies of the death certificate.

Its the only two official claims against the estate and actually its not that much. The way I understand it from my attorney, they have show up in order in court for the claim to be valid. Both credit card bills are less than 2k each. Who knows, we may not have to pay it at all. Just depends on the judge.

Yeah it probably does. But for 2k each they probably won't want the attorneys fees and never show. My wife's nephew left WAY more than that. He left behind pickup and decent boat. They wrote it off and both went to his brother. I don't think they want to deal with stuff you have to haul around.

If they show up, I'd consider offering them $1,250 each as a settlement. That way you keep the tractor and it only costs you $2,500.

We will have to see. I'm not sure when our next court date is. I hope to talk to the attorney handling the estate today or monday.

ehenry,

My bx2200 has a seat with some problems. I used Black Gorilla tape all over it and did not worry has to how neat it looked. Then I found seat covers (2 sizes small and large) the small one was perfect. They fit with elastic around the seat, storage pockets and some cushioning on the seat. Looks like a brand new seat at a lot less cost. Plus a zippered pocket and water bottle sleeve. Good luck.

That's a nice little tractor. And even if you have to pay the collectors what they are asking, the pleasure you get when using it will make it a bargain. Plus your friend will be with you when you use it. It sounds like both of you got years of good friendship from that relationship. I know how that friend felt when he wanted you to have that tractor. I am now in the process of figuring out who gets my stuff. More than anything, I want things to go to those who will enjoy them. Just the thought makes me smile and it probably made him feel good to know you would have that little tractor too.

At one time upgraded seats for my BX23 were offered for $50... at least this is what my Dealer charged me...

Lots of folks kept the old non upgrade seat when the new one was installed... I bet someone here has one laying around or maybe e-mail one of the Kubota Dealers that advertise here.
