Last Dec I cut up a fallen tree and removed the stump with my backhoe. I then moved all the cut up tree trunk to another area in back. I put the tractor back in the barn. I have not used it since. Went out to the tractor and I can see where there was a line of drip marks on the gravel where I pulled it into the barn. I could not find a puddle or large mass of hydraulic fluid. It was low and I replaced about a gallon of SUDT. I found one of the backhoe joysticks just flopping and the screw connecting it to the hydraulics was missing. The tractor will start, and move forward or backwards but no hydraulics will work. Can't raise the FEL or move the backhoe. Could this unconnected joystick cause a loss of hydraulic power and a loss of hydraulic fluid? Also, haven't been able to find a way to get the joystick connected again as there isn't enough room to get my hand in back of it. I may need to drill a hole just to get to the back of it. Any suggestions?

Two suggestions:

1) Make sure the 3PH (rockshaft) lever is centered.

2) Unplug the two QD's (quick disconnects) that feed the backhoe and then reconnect them, they can get jarred loose but still look coupled.

If the disconnected joystick is jamming the spool valve open, then it's possible the system is going into relief causing the other functions not to work. If this is true-the engine will sound very labored.

I'd do what kenny suggested. If that doesnt work, just disconnect BH and insert power beyondhose and test the FEL.

Question, have you checked your hydro filter to make sure there no holes ?

Put a gage in the system and determine where and if you have pressure.

Even unhook and rehook the loader connectors to double check.

Ok. I am out of town and won't be back for 2 more weeks. I know I checked the lever positions and they were ok. When I get back I will disconnect the BH and reconnect the line and see if the FEL works that way.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll post back up with the results.

Ok I got back in town and today I went out and disconnected the backhoe hydraulics and reconnected the tractor. The FEL and tractor work just fine. I managed to jack the backhoe up and get it removed from the tractor. It appears that one of the backhoe hoses must be leaking. I removed the FEL and everything else works fine.
I'll replace the hoses and fix the broken joystick later.
Thanks for all the help.

I think your problem is the back hoe valve isn't centered is the problem

If it is like my 23 the panel on the back of the hoe should unbolt to get to the levers and valves.
