I have some questions about the use of the 60" MMM with the BX22....

1. What are the 'rules' for using the mower with the FEL and backhoe attached to the machine?

2. What are the 'rules' for using the FEL with the mower attached?

3. What are the 'rules' for using the backhoe with the mower attached?

4. How difficult is it to remove the mower and how difficult is it to attach the mower?

5. Has anybody had any experience with the mulching kit for the 60" MMM, does it do a good job mulching the clippings?

Thanks for your help,
Wheels

I'm going to random here on the answers but we can get it done. The loader and the mower can be used at the same time but the disadvantage would be yours if anything as it would hinder manuverability. The deck can easily be removed or installed in less then five minutes the same as all the attachments for the BX. The backhoe and the mower will cause problems and you need to pick one or the other to run. On the mulcher, Kubota decks are some of the best built in the industry, I have had nobody ask for a mulch kit for a BX yet. Our turf is the best in the country for natural non-irrigated turf. I'm still mowing every four days. I'd be every three days with a mulcher no thanks.

You can not mows with the BH on. The 3PH arms at the rear are limited in downward movement by the BH, so the deck will not lower enough.

You can BH with the deck mounted, but you lose serious ground clearance. I just remove the deck which is a 5 minute job at best.

The FEL and mower have no issues. You can use either with the other mounted. The biggest issue mowing with the FEL mounted is the FEL swing in front of you as you turn mowing.

The FEL can be removed/installed as easily as the deck, actually easier. Likewise the BH is easy to attach/detach, although it may take 6 or 7 minutes once you have the hang of it.

You've seen the reasons in the other posts...my recommendation is to remove both the FEL and BH when you are actually using your MMM. You get the best manuverability and reduce compaction of your soil with less weight involved. Even the FEL seriously compromises both your ability to get into places and to actually see where you are going in some cases. The exception would obviously be where just a big, flat open space is involved and the FEL would have less effect. I'd still remove it since it takes about a minute and a half total!

I have the BX2200. obviously no BH but I do have the loader.

The loader is a piece of cake to take off.

The only good argument that I have ever heard of to keep the loader on is a fella used the loader bucket to skim the ground in an area he wasn't sure about so he didn't run the deck over a rock or stump.

But then, if the grass was that tall I would have used a hog instead of the MMM.

I also don't have a BX22 and cannnot comment on Hoe, but do have a BX1800 w/FEL and MMM so I will comment from that perspective. I don't recall who it was on here, but someone mentioned doing some work with their FEL while the deck was attached and ended up damaging their deck. I would consider this when using FEL with MMM attached as a possibility. I have used mine on several occasions with it on for FEL work, but typically try to assess clearance needs beforehand so I don't have the same problem. If I am going to do any digging or backfilling, then I remove MMM.

As for removal of items, the FEL is much quicker and easier than the MMM from my perspective, but even the MMM removes in about 5 min and is put back on in 5-10 depending on whether the shaft lines up or not. And on that note, there have been a few threads lately about collar coming off PTO, so I would make sure that it is locked before mowing each time.

surfran,

I serviced my tractor last Sunday and had the deck off and all. I took someone's advice and cleaned all the grease off the locking part of the shaft. I used carb cleaner. Then later I sprayed it with silicone.

Yesterday, when I put the deck back on It snapped on real easy.

Also, when mounting the deck I have been snapping the shaft before I mount the the lift arms. Just gives a little more clearance.
