Ok all you other BX owners. Here is a question and I am sure you will just shake your head and laugh /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif but, here it goes. Keep in mine I am Polish if that helps.

I have a BX22 and want some better headlights. Does anyone know or know anyone that has installed H.I.D on there tractor? HID stands for High Intensity Discharge. All the upper class cars came with them and they are great. I have them in my lexus and my wifes Mercedes. Now they are the norm (so to speak). I can stand regualr halogen since the output is soooo poor.

I know it sounds weird but I need more light on the BX. I know some people/users here have install them on the ROPS but I would like to start at the source (and HIDS are very head to install).

Any help??

Don't know what the availability of them would be on the after market in stand alone lighting, however if you can find them, I can't see any reason not to use them. I have no idea of the current draw, but keep in mind that the basic alternator of the BX is only 14.5 amps..... the dealer installed optional alternator is 40 amps.... not much by any modern day standard. If they are a high draw item, I would install them with a relay in the circuit and use a circuit breaker. That way you won't be dealing with fuses. Make sure that the wire is rated for the total amperage draw also. Finely stranded wire carries more current than less strands of wire of same gauge and is easier to work with also. You might also consider the practicality of HID lights.... What are you going to be doing with the tractor that you will require that degree of light? In snow, it will be a greater problem because the light will be bouncing back at you as it reflects off the snow flakes. I once put roof mounted lights on my plow vehicle and found that I couldn't use them during snow storms, only after it stopped snowing....

Yeah, the headlights stink for lighting! But replacing them with brighter lights still gives you alot of the same issues. Mainly, the FEL blocks them about 75% of the time. This is why most of us went to overhead mounting of some kind.

Look under the heavy duty products index . Do I have a set ? no . But I've used their stuff for years and they make a good product .

Does anyone know the bulb size to use? ie, 9007, h4, etc. I figure the 6000K will be fine. I have them on my car and they are great! If I can get 8000K that is fine too.

The 6000K and 8000k bulbs you're asking about ....
Does the K stand for Kelvin ? If so , I believe Daylight is less than 5000 K . You must have one decent altenator on your vehicles /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But then again I may have mis read the post /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have Philips 6000K Ultinons in my car. My wife only has 4100K. Yes k=Kelvin. The alt in standard for lexus and it handles it fine. The balast handle all the work and I think they use less power.

The color change at startup is cool!
