BX22
I'm the new owner of this tractor (400 hrs) I removed the BH for the first time to do inspection and maintenance Coated all the attachment pins with 'Never Seize' and lubed the arm & cam assembly with kroil. I watched a YouTube video on removal on a BX 23S and the BH removal went fine, I took my time.

Yesterday I attempted to re-attach the BH, it did not go well. On the BX22, the bottom BH attachment point is a solid single 'pin' I noticed the 23S had a different 2 pin design, so it might be different procedure. After a few hours trying I called it a day as frustration and working on heavy machinery deadly cocktails. Here are the pic's

Use the outriggers on the backhoe to raise the backhoe to the height that make the pins and bar in the same plane as the attachment points. This requires hooking up the hydraulics on the backhoe, there should be enough slack in the hydraulic lines. Then it's simple a matter of backing up and securing the attachment points.

Yep, attach the lines, move the stabilizer legs to raise the bottom, if needed, raise the dipper some to allow the top to tilt back away from the tractor.
Back the tractor under your lower bar, lower the stabilizer legs to set it in place and fully put the weight from the stabilizers onto that bottom pin.
Then use the dipper cylinder to push down on the bucket and rock the clamp assembly back into place and make sure it fully closes and latches.
Your done.

It should take 3-4 minutes total off or on, at least it does on my older BX without the new faster/easier clampy thing.

I'm not trying to be cheeky but if your backhoe is on solid level ground and you are having issues try checking the kubota manual for tricks.

I don't have experience on your specific machine but on my M59 I was finding it sometimes took a long time to get the pins to locate properly when hooking up the backhoe.

I finally read my manual and it says don't put the outriggers all the way down to the ground - just have them out enough to stop the hoe from accidentally falling over if something happens. Then curl the bucket and stick all the way in and use only the boom to back off and re-hook onto the backhoe attachment pins. This way the backhoe frame catches the lower hooks and swings in nicely and I have no problems aligning the top pins.

At first I didn't like the idea of dropping the backhoe onto its linkage the way kubota suggested but it works perfectly every time for me.

My old new holland had a sub-frame backhoe and I had to use the outriggers, boom and the bucket for alignment. Sometimes it was a PITA to get everything just right to re-connect all the pins.

After about 10 years of fighting with it, I decided to take a day I did not need it to learn how to remove and replace "right", and document it.
Imagine my surprise that the book was EXACTLY the right way to do it.
The English and grammer were not to my liking, but the book process was right.
(I had been ready to trim out those fender supports that are so torn up and bad looking, now I miss 'em!)

What is the problem? Can you not get the lower pin in or will the upper pins not lock up? I have had trouble with my BX 24 and it can get frustrating. Give us a little more to go on and I'll bet someone here will know the best way to help.

Thanks everyone. Been raining so re-connect is on hold. I think I need to play with tilt angle to seat the bar properly on the tractor sub-frame. I go back and re-read the manual, if an 11 year old can do it....lol

As others said, you slightly lift the BH with the satabilizers and move the dipper (slowly) to slightly tilt the BH away from the tractor at the top..Once the lower pin is just over the cradle on the tractor, back up and lower the pin into the cradle using the stablilizers (make sure both sides are in) then bump the HST forward to make sure it's seated..Then move the dipper so that the BH tilts towards the tractor and give a slight lift to the whole machine (1/4" at most) secure the locks and bring the dipper up to it's resting position. Once you get this to work once, you'll see how easy it actually is...I don't read many directions either but the manual instructions on my BX23 were pretty much dead on.

Re: BX22 problems reattaching the BH...mission accomplished

Well finally got the BH locked in place. It wasn't fast or easy, but it will be faster and easier the next time... Thanks everyone
