I have decided that the BX22 is exactly what I need, but I would like to know if there are any reliability concerns.
What has been your costliest repair?
How often have you had a problem that required dealer service?

Thx.

I don't think the BX22 has been out 3 years. So they should all be in warranty. Unless someone has 2000 hours of seat time. That was one of the selling points, reliability record. I have one coming also. We can keep everyone posted on how well they hold up.

Just about a year or so. But the BX-22 is based on the BX-2200 which has been around for 3-4 years now. That's what I had before I traded it in on the BX-22 and it was absolutely trouble-free for me. The BX-22 has been the same way...a few minor adjustments normal for a piece of machinery are all I've done.

I've had my BX2200 (no hoe) for a little over a year. It's gotten good use (130 hours) with mowing and FEL work, including digging some boulders that it had no right moving.

The only issues that I've had with it were a burst hydraulic hose and a power steering cylinder that was defective. Both were covered under warrantee. I did the work myself for both of these, to save my dealer a trip out to get the machine. I'm not what I would consider "mechanically educated", but I'm not afraid to start taking things apart---and these repairs were both relatively easy.

I've been very pleased with my experience so far. And I wish I had the BX22... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Closely follow all scheduled maintenance! You absolutely must change the two fuel filters on schedule (take up floor for 2nd) or you will lose power. The power steering hoses did get a leak on mine at 325 hours! Do the (watch the O rings) Hydro strainer on time; you will be SURPRISED at the junk!!! Tree limbs have scraped off the rear caution lights on mine. And the only way I could keep air in the two front tires was with SLIME. Various nuts and bolts (60’’ mower deck gear box & others) worked themselves lose so do a wench around every so often or before first use and then periodically thereafter. Otherwise MMM 4.5 acres for 4 years through knee high sage brush no problem. Two blade sets so far. $13,000 with 54" cat1 3point hitch woods tiller and 60" mower deck.

I have had mine for 3 years 485 hours on it. Nothing has broken except the air filter bracket which it did/does on all of them

730 hrs on my '23 as of yesterday. Nothing broken (except air filt bracket), no leaks, never much of anything in the strainer, only changed one of the fuel filters mostly out of guilt (the other is still OEM), tires still excellent (I do try to control slippage as much as possible), oil and hydro changed on schedule, FEL & BH greased whenever I feel like it (usually won't take a full pump of grease), never wash it (only hose it off just prior to maintenance).
Amazing machine!

I put 650 hours of the roughest work possible on my BX22 before blowing the ring gear. I had the typical problems, hydraulic quick connector failure, air filter bracket broke twice, pin to hold front wheel drive gear on drive shaft broke. This machine was a real mule I moved several hundred tons of crushed stone, and at least 30 tandem truckloads of sand, dug hundreds of feet of water/sewer/electrical trenches. I used it to bring crushed stone right down to the footer going up and down a 45-degree slope with full bucket loads. It was an amazing machine and I pushed it far more than Kubota ever intended these machines to be pushed. Just keep up with the maintance and use a lot of grease. I have since traded it in on a L39.

I've had a 2200 for 5 years and the only issue was a leaking fuel tank that was fixed under warrantee. My air cleaner bracket hasnt even broken!

I bought a BX2200 in the year 2000 and it had already been out for awhile. I am almost certain that the BX22 was released in Jan. 2003.

Junkman has a BX22 and made around 8000 posts here before being banned. He knows the BX22 inside and out. If you want to know how to contact him, let me know and I'll send you a PM.
