kubota bx2200
Hello all,

I completed my 300 hour maintenance on my bx2200 this weekend. It took most of Saturday to complete. I do have a couple of questions though.

Oil/Filter – 10w30 kubota brand – no problems

Trans/Filter – SUDT – easy to do

Trans Screen – This was the first time I cleaned this screen. It was pretty tight to break loose, but I got it out without damaging anything. I really recommend getting the 26mm socket to help. There weren’t too many metal shavings on the screen so that was good. I used brake cleaner to clean it off.

Front Axle Oil – No major problems here, I didn’t have a bucket shallow enough, but big enough to hold all of the fluid, so I had to stop and empty my little container a few times. I refilled with SUDT.

Air Filter – Simple and yes, my bracket is broken too, ZIP tie solution for me.

Fuel Filters – No problem, just diesel everywhere. I stilled haven’t come up with a good way to avoid that. I do use golf tees to plug the holes. Maybe I’ll try alligator clips or something next time, but I don’t what to damage the hose.

Coolant – tell me the secret please! I had anti-freeze everywhere! I put a bucket under the drain plug, but the coolant just seemed to shoot everywhere. I flushed it out and refilled with Prestone coolant, but it was a messy job!

I greased everything and sharpened the mower deck blades, but I didn’t have any oil to change the mower’s gear box. The manual says to use 90w oil, but I couldn’t find it at any of the stores. What does everyone else use? I still have some SUDT left over and thought about using that. Any suggestions?

The final item I need to address are my front tires. Both have holes/slow leaks in them. I need to find a better solution. I have used SLIME, but it seems to stop working after a while.

We'll see what happens. Thanks for the help.

wj,

Welcome to TBN and congrats on 300 hours. I'm not there yet, should hit 300 by late summer (BX23).

When changing fuel filters I use a hemostat on the fuel line (tank side). You can use a scrap of cardboard or something similar to avoid gouging the line.

Although Kubota recommends 'straight' gear oil for MMM gearbox, a good multi-viscosity gear oil would probably be fine. 80-90W is pretty common at auto parts stores. I would NOT use SUDT in there!!

My front tires are nail magnets. So far I am just patching the holes, but seriously considering foam filling. Ask your dealer or a tire shop that handles truck/utility tires about it.

Happy Trails,

Russell

Well, I finally cut my grass last night. It took about 2 hours. Most of it was knee high, some places where close to waist high. It was a work out for the bx, but it did very well. I don't think I;ll have to recut it, because it did such a nice job.

Everything seemed to run great on it, so I guess I didn't mess anything up doing the 300 hour maint.
