Can anyone give me some insight on how to tell the difference of a 3-way or 4-way loader valve on a BX2200? Last weekend I purchased a 2000 Kubota BX2200 with loader, 60" mmm with mulch kit, shop manuals, and a few extras with only 299 hours and garage kept. The 300 hour service had even been done except for the air filter. Just happened to see it listed in the local paper which rarely has any listings.

I've been looking at B series tractors but need a smaller tractor right now to do some projects up around my wooded rural home. I figured this was a decent deal for the price in the interim. I'd like to get used bx2763 blade and a set AG tires and rims for it also to see how it does on my driveway in the winter. It's defintely not my old 245DT that I sold a few years back... but then again the 245 is not this bx2200 either. I definitely like it so far...

I'll take a stab at this. I have a BX22 with the 4-way. I looked in my operators manual but it doesn't say anything about it. I think the only difference is a 4-way is plumbed with quick couples to the loader and the loader pins that attach the loader arm and cylinder have lynch pins retaining them so the loader can be removed, leaving the loader valve on the tractor to be used with other attachments. IF that is the case, you could add the quick couples and the lynch pins and have the same set up. The 4-way may also refer to the regen on the bucket curl spool, but I don't know that that would have any effect on what you want to do.
Maybe someone else can chime in with more or better information.

Kim, with the 3-way valve, you can't run a blade or chute control on a snowblower, read THIS thread for a great explanation.

JJL, I remember a lot of thread about this subject years ago in the Kubota forum...not sure if they where moved to the Hydraulics forum after it was created or not. Try searching some terms like these:

3-way
4-way
regen
regenerative

Thanks for the explanation kennyd. I wasn't aware of that.

Thanks Kim and Kennyd. Both replies helped. I have an early BX2200 that does have the loader valve that stays with loader... so that makes sense now. Plus it explains why I've seen posts about needing the 4-way for using a quick mount BX2763 blade.
