I am looking at buying a 4' rotary cutter (King Kutter)for my BX2200. I know the manual shows a limit of 42" for a rotary cutter. Unfortunately, these smaller cutters are proving to be both spendy (1/3-1/2 more$ than 4'), and dificult to obtain (most dealers in my area don't stock them). I am wondering if anyone is running a 4' cutter on their BX, and if so, how it is working. Thanks for your responses.
Pat, Kubota is very conservative in their implement size limitations. I don't have a BX, but I used to have a B7100 that also called for 42" and I used a 48" and was glad it was not any smaller. In my opinion, you'll be much happier with a 48" than you would be with a 42" (unless you intend to buy a really heavy duty model to knock down big, thick saplings).
That's kinda what I was thinking. I won't be cutting anything bigger than 1" (and that will be only the first time). After that, it will just be maintaining the cut in the areas of my property where the mmm won't work.
The Kubota dealer here in CT reports satisfactory use of the Woods 48' cutter on a BX, as well as the 42" Landpride. Just makes sure the three point linkages and arms all fit properly before you buy an implement for the BX. Sometimes they dont fit quite well because of the BX's tight 3ph geometry. Also because the BX is so low to the ground, check to make sure you can lift the cutter high enough to transport it.
i bought my bx2200 on labor day and using a 48" brush hog was one question i also had. so my dealer let me try one out and i bought it. just now, i'm coming in from brush hogging for 2 hours. it works great........ no problems w/ lift or 3pt hookup. the only accessory i bought was the quick hitch which has saved me lots of time.

pat: must agree with bird and the rest, do not beleive u will have any problem with 4' cutter. as long as u don't intend on attacking a redwood forest/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
