- 2001 Kubota BX2200, 2011 Hustler Super Z 31 Kawi
The dealer's "road man" came out with the parts, and we did the 50HR on my '91 BX2200. Other than accidentally tearing the wire off the oil pressure switch duing removal of the filter with a huge pair of lock-jaws, nothing was tricky.
Of interest to the group were:
1) Be sure to grease the 'fork' for the HL range selector on the tranny. It's under the seat. We used a spray on grease. The selector moves MUCH easier now. Highly recommended. You can see how one piece moves inside the other, hit it with grease there.
2) I found I was greasing the idler pulley and not the center spindle on the deck before each mowing (2 pumps each). Double check what you are greasing. Look underneath to see what is where.
3) Because I'm in a relatively warm garage, we used Straight 30W 'Case' diesel tractor oil. He says it's all they use. Any comments from the group?
4) Was suprised to hear that the engine has solid lifters. He says they never need adjustment, regardless of what the book says.
5) He said to keep using Supert UDT while under warranty, then use a generic. Kubota demands samples sometimes for warranty work. Recommended intervals are too frequent.
As an aside, they have a BX2200 rear-end apart at the shop. The operator forced the PTO selector (rear, mid, etc). It bent the fork in the tranny allowing the detent ball to fall out and down inside the unit (or some variation of this). It all had to come apart, he wasn't sure warranty would cover it. A little grinding from moving gears is better than forcing it, so engage it a little while moving the selector.
As agreed, I pay for the parts, and the labor is gratis. On to 100 HRS!!!
Whoops, forgot to say that it's important to grease the anti-scalp rollers, we used the spray stuff again, and worked it in by spinning the wheels.
