Does anyone have any experience with a BX2200 using a 3point 1 or two bottom plow. I need to turn up some ground and am reluctant (too poor) to spend the money on a rototiller. it seems to me i could accomplish the same thing with a plow and disc which, around here, are fairly inexpensive and available used. I haven't seen any discussion on this.

thanks

The BX will pull a one bottom plow without trouble, it will also pull the small three point hitch disc harrows that are built. The disc is not anywhere near the tool that the rototiller is. The disc harrows farmers use weigh 200to 400lbs per foot at a minimum. The disc for a small tractor weigh's less than 100lbs per ft so normally to chew up the soil you have to cross it many times to get it fitted.

Charliek, I've had not experience with the BX series, but I've used plows on a B7100 and B2710 besides the bigger tractors, so I'll try to help just a little bit maybe. Forget the 2 bottom plow, get a single bottom. For a moldboard, or turning plow, I'd recommend a 12" although they may be a little hard to find, and if so, a 14" will do. Get one that's adjustable side to side so it can be properly adjusted for your tread width. A middle buster is even cheaper and will tear up the ground prior to using the disk, but will make it pretty rough for driving over with the disk initially, so it's a second choice item. Then get the smallest disk you can find that's wider than your rear tread. You may or may not need to add weight to such a disk to get the depth you want. And depending on type of soil, vegetation, moisture content, etc., you may need to make multiple passes with either or both types of plows. The bottom line is that I think you can do a pretty good job; just takes a little time.
