Kubota BX 2200
Hello,
Thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far. Like I said before, I am new to tractor ownership. My BX2200 now has 15 hours. What all should I do before each time I use the tractor? I check the engine oil and look for leaks from the hydraulic hoses under the steering wheel and rear end, but what else needs done? I am going to leave all scheduled maintenance to the dealer since I am not very handy mechanically. Are they things I need to grease or lube and what kinds should I use? Thanks in advance to everyone who replies to my posts.

Hi kaz I have a bx22 similar except for the backhoe. There is one grease fitting under the foreward reverse pedal. They say to lube the battery terminals. If you have a loader you should lube it every 8 hrs of use. The manual said to warm the tractor up before operating. I would suggest sitting down and reading your operating manuals and attachment manuals even if you aren't going to do much of the work to familarize yourself with the operation and maintainance of your tractor.
If you have a bx22 their are a lot of lube fittings on the back hoe every where their is a joint. Do you have a
bx22 or a bx2200 ? Enjoy David

Just keeping and I on things is the big one checking for loose things. deck maintaince is grease and keeping it clean blades sharp. I didn't look to see if you stated what you have on your bx but just checking stuff is important. I use my air compresser alot to keep things clean blowing of grass and dirt that collect on the machine. Its a great machine I amazed at what it can do for its size. have fun be careful. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There's a bunch of places you need to grease on the deck (including the universal joints on the shaft, I think there is 10 or nearly so. I use Red Wolf grease for these.
If you have or get a loader, there's another 10 to grease using black moly grease. Super messy job, but it needs done often to keep the moisture out. My deck is the hardest working tool I have ever owned. I grease it every 3 to 5 mows. Each mow being about 1 to 1.5 hours use.
It's tough to get at he fittings on the universal and its tough to find ALL of the fittings when they get dirty. Check the manual.

Stating the obvious:
It's extremely important to clean off each of the grease zerks prior to greasing (I then wipe off any excess grease after greasing to prevent dirt from sticking to it). Otherwise you'll push any dirt or debris that's on the zerk into the bearing. This may not be a big deal on a pivot pin, but you certainly don't want to push any grit into a high speed bearing (Deck bearings). I don't know how many times I've watched someone grease a tractor and just plug the grease gun onto a zerk and pump away, without cleaning the trash off it first.
