I am thinking about buying a cab for my BX2200. The central NY winters are getting too much for me.

I have been looking at the Sims and Curtis cab literature. Do any of you guys have cabs for your BX and what would you reccommend ?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks,
Jon

Jon,

I just ordered a Sims cab for $1695. The Curtis cab had too much vinyl on the rear and side windows for me. Sims is all glass, only vinyl are the doors. I believe Sims is just about out of cabs until late January 05. My dealer called and was told he got one of the last ones for 04 production. So if you are going to order, better do it sooner then latter.

Tom,
Thanks for the reply!! After looking at the literature, I agree with you that the Sims cab appeared like a better cab.

My dealer sells Curtis cabs. He told me that the snowblower chute rotation would have to be converted to electric because the turn crank would not fit inside the Curtis cab. That sounds strange to me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Are you able to use your snowblower chute crank inside your Sims cab???? I don't like the idea of converting the chute rotation to electric, just another maintenance item.

Do you have a loader? I wonder how easy it will be to remove the loader with the cab. Also, I have the new style loader valve, I also wonder if the cab will fit the new loader style?

Jon.

Jon,

I have order but not received the cab yet /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I am switching from a rear 3pt snowblower and FEL to a front mounted blower and adding the cab. The dealer will take the FEL and install quick disconnects on the loader tower so the blower can be connected to the tractor using the 3 way loader valve. I do not expect this all to come together until end of Dec. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I am also adding the high output alternator at the same time.

This is from the Sims web site, looks like you should be OK with the FEL.

I have the Curtis cab on my BX2200. I don't have a blower so I can't answer the crank handle question. I like the side and rear plastic windows as they are easy to remove and put back on to match the weather. I also like having two opening steel framed doors. It has a steel roof, glass windshield and wiper and fits fine around the loader control. Mine was $1200 in November of 2000, Dealer installed for $150 as I bought my tractor from him.

I have the Curtis cab with both the loader and snow blower. The windshield pushes out on the bottom to allow you to hook the loader up-no problem there. As far as the crank on the snow blower goes, could be a problem. I've read where some just leave the valcro loose on the bottom of the rear window, so that they can reach through and wind the crank on the chute. It gets pretty cold here at times, and I didn't want the chill, so I bought a cheap 12V winch, mounted it to the original crank handle via small wire rope, put a cheap plastic cover over it to keep the snow off. If the winch fails, I can always use the crank still.

I do exactly as you described on my 2410- leave the bottom of the rear panel unsnapped so I can reach out through it and you're right it's a PITA!!!
Can't thank you enough for posting these 2 pix!!! I can make the same arrangement on my Meteor blower which has the same crank arrangement!!
Now to go to ebay and find an inexpensive winch...

Wouldn't a hydraulic swing arm be a lot simpler?

I have a Curtis on my BX2200. No problem with loader removal but I don't have a blower so I don't know about the crank. I like the cab a lot but never saw a Sims to compare.

I have a bunch of pictures on this web site here
