BX2200 Engine Confusion?

Well I was under the hood the other day just looking aound when I notices some stickers on the engine.

Then i went around to the other side and ther was this sticker.

Now I totally confused. The first one says I have the B7500 1000 cc engine. The second one says its is the BX2200 898.
What is going on here?

I'd look around for markings in the casting. Otherwise, maybe you've got yourself a BX7500? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This was done purposely to confuse and threaten B7500 owners who read Glueguys engine comparison chart /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif . Perhaps the engine is a variable displacement unit! Mine says D905 which is the same engine that was in the B1700 where it makes 17 horses at 2600 and 22 at 3200 for the BX2200. J

If I had to guess, I'd say that they had not made a new "EPA feel good emmisions sticker" for the BX so they used an existing one from a different model tractor.

That sounds like the likely situation. Also, on the left side of the engine (as viewed sitting in the seat), the casting should have the displacement indicated (just below the EPA sticker). The casting on my B7500 looks like the attached pic.

Anyone know where the BX engine block casting number is?
I looked but couln't find it.
Do I have to take off the side engine cover?

I had to take the side cover off to get the pic above on my B7500. I would assume that it would be pretty much the same for the BX. The mark on the casting is right below the EPA sticker.

Yup, I got the same stickers you do. I looked under my exhaust manifold and found the casting mark identifying it as the D905, so my guess is that the others are correct and are just using the EPA sticker from the D1005.

Ditto on the casting #'s.
You can see it through the right side cover grill, but I was not able to take a picture.
Further to the front on the same side just above the starter are additional casting numbers 0898, which just happens to be the number of cubic centirmeters of displacement.

This brings another question.

Where the heck is the alternator on a BX?

The BX doesn't use an alternator, but instead use a dynamo....it's the little round thing with a small cable going to it and runs off the fan belt. Now, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me the specs on that thing and what the differences are between it and a real alternator....
