BX2200 for 3.6 acres with incline?

Just curious, don't people put calcium chloride (calcium salt) in tires instead of sodium chloride (table salt)? I've never seen it for sale anywhere, but I think I've read that people 'put calcium' in their tires for ballast.

Jeff396,
Thank you for the information on the R4 tires. From the pictures you provided they look like they may do the trick for me. I am afraid that the turf tires may not give me enough traction on the hill.

RPM,
Thanks for the tip. I think I will see if I can get the contractor to just dump the dirt on my lot, then use the Kubota to move it. If I can't get that, I will have to improvise like you suggested

1funride,
Thank you for the information on liquid filling the tires. You mentioned earlier that you mow some hills, do you ever wish you had purchased the Bar or R4 tires?

Everyone,
Thank you again. Everyone's input has confirmed my decision that the bx2200 can do what I need. Now I just need to decide on options.

I would get the bar tires for a BX unless mowing is the main use on soft ground. I have the bar tires on my BX and do not regret it despite my being somewhat into nice lawns. The BX is light enough and the tires are wide enough that they "float" decently on all but the softest ground with the FEL etc removed for mowing. J

Jeff,
Keep in mind, if you go with the BX, that the R4's are not available. There are some prior posts indicating the best compromise is that you can purchase a full set of bar tires, with wheels, for approx. $300 from Kubota for the BX. This way you buy the BX with turfs and change them as needed. You might be able to negotiate a better price as an add on to your order too!

P.S. Does the 396 in Jeff 396 refer to the BB Chevrolet?

Can't comment on calcium chloride for fill as my tires are
unfilled. But two common sources for it are swimming pool
supply outlets (used to tweak water chemistry) and most
any agricultural feed store. It's sold in 50 or 100 lb bags
as an ice melter. Calcium chloride melts ice at much lower
temperatures than sodium chloride. Smart people with
swimming pools buy CaCl at the feed store 'cause it costs
1/10 as much there.
