With just over 100 hrs now I'm putting the kubota to the test. My son is building a house and I decided that we could dig the basement ourselves, useing a caddigger and the kubota with fel. I figured somewhere between three and four hundred yards of dirt to move. If the kubota passes this test there no telling what it can do.! We only have one day on the job so far and while the kkubota is being tested it is doing the job. I have a tooth bar on order so I will be able to tell you all how much better or worse it works with one on. so far ran it one whole day and used a tank of fuel. hyd did not get so hot that you couldn't hold your hand on them. carrying a backblade on the back for balance. the kubota could just about keep up with the backhoe. first layer was top soil and pine stumps of all sizes. next is sand and gravel rocks. hole will be aprox 35'x60'x5 1/2' deep what fun /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's not a very big Kubota for a job like that even though I know that Kubota's literature on the L-Series states that they dig a hole that is as high as the tractor as a test. I've dug some pretty big holes with my old 3710. I've never dug a hole with the 5030 though I'm sure it would without any problem. I have an ATI toothbar that I lengthened to use on the 5030. It was on the 3710 but I don't dig with it. I use it to scoop straw and wet manure into the spreader. Without the bar, it just rolls out of the bucket.

Remember that the toothbar is going to weigh about 100 pounds or so and will reduce the load you can handle by the same amount.
I just finished back filling a hole 60x12x6 and my 2200 really moved some sand. I was impressed by what the little guy will do. I ran it pretty much at 2100-2200 rpm the whole way and the temps stayed on the low side.

Remember you're gotta get it out of the hole, ah, the BX. If it rains you're in a world of hurt too, it's a Kubota not a boat and it won't float in a hole full of water. Becareful.

pic as requested, early in the day didn't quit till almost dark. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif No work done Sunday or Monday rain days. Kubota got and oil change, grease job and a check up. One nut holding a hose clamp missing underneath, maybe never there. One broken jerk fitting on the bucket pivot. Rock got between the bucket and pivot. dug the jerk out and all is well. Question how much oil does a 2200 hold?, book says something like 2.5 quarts. the dip stick says about 4.5. I went with the stick. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Quite the ambitious project! My BX holds 2.75 quarts of oil, more than the 2.6 listed in the manual.

Looking good. My dealer told me about a guy down here that dug his foundation with a bx. I guess if the dirt isn't too compacted or full of large rock she should do it. Keep us posted.

Now you have me worried. this is the third oil change now and every time the dip stick does not say full till about 4.5 quarts are in. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I better do some more checking. how long is your dip stick? maybe I have the wrong dip stick in there. and if I do what am I hurting with two quarts to much?? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I just thought it was a manual problem. !!!! My dip stick is amost 17" long to the bottom of the cap or stop.

Wow, I'll guess you don't have the turf tires. I know I had
trouble taking 2-4 inches off the top over where I am, but
a lot of it is all those da?* rocks/boulders. I just love fill dirt
how about you /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
