I am generally satisfied with new BX2200 but find the HST pedal to be very poorly designed. I am tall and it is so far off the deck that my knee is at an uncomfortable angle. Looks like you might be able toremove it and bend the pedal flat to improve it some with out changing the pivots or stops. It really needs a new design. For continuous forward mowing it is not too bad with the heal on the deck and toe on pedal but when using the loader it would be much handier to be able to keep whole foot on the pedal. I don't think the engineer ever drove one of these things for more than 5 minutes! Has any one come up with a pedal modification that fixes this?

Some options........

My wife has a right leg with neurological damage so she wears an ankle brace and her foot / leg have less than normal function. It makes shifting F/R very difficult for her on our BX.

My plan is to make a metal bracket that will slide over the current pedal and provide a hand lever under the steering wheel so she can operate the foot pedal by hand. Think it will be easy to do. Or I might try to find a boat motor throttle linkage to accomplish the same thing.

I'd look in the part's book and see what the pedal hooks to (never looked at mine yet) and see if you can easily remove it and fabricate your own model. That way, you could experiment with different configurations and modifications. CAUTION: Make sure you keep the pedal stops adjusted properly to avoid undue pressure on the transmission linkage.

Probably the best option which I read here within the past 9 months: Raise the BX seat by placing a 1 x 2 metal tube between the seat and seat hinges. A tall poster here did that and posted a pic. Looked like an easy fix.

Best wishes,

I have a BX2200 and have used the tractor for over four hours at a time doing loader work and didn't find the pedal to be a concern. I also am a tall person, 6' 4" with a size 14 shoe. I have a cab on my BX and find the set up comfortable.

I'm just under six feet and don't fine the pedal uncomfortable...in fact, I find it to be very well designed for the purpose. But sometimes things like this are personal preference. If you are really tall, the pedal probably isn't the real problem...the seat postion is since it was designed for the "average person". The fellow who raised his up has the right idea for that situation. All of this is IMHO, of course.

Pedal removes very easily, with just two bolts on the bottom side of it holding it on. Design a new one, just for you! It should be fairly easy to do. Don't forget to take pictures and post it here of course.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Raising the seat may help. Looks like an easy modification and worth a try. Thanks for the idea!.
