EDIT 3: wrong bolt - needed the shorter one I had originally ordered but did not receive for $5. Luckily I told them to hold onto it for me if / when it came in. This one is too long to fit and could not have been lost. Will call in the morning. Check pic. zen

EDIT 2: received bolt... looking for shop manual details including torque before installing. Image in comments below in case you want to see what a $40 CDN Kubota bolt looks like ;-)...

EDIT: UPDATE - Solved - Bolt that holds HST on there is missing. Will walk around with a magnet and order one if not found.

Developed a fast leak from where the handle of the Wescott wrench is pointing in the photo. I've looked at the shop manual, parts diagrams, searched google and in the groups and can't figure out what this is and why it may be happening. Tractor was running okay, although it seemed louder of late at higher revs and I didn't figure out what that may have been. FEL & 3 pt hitch all worked fine. It occurred after mowing including some tall grass over a weeping field. Gallons seeped out quite quickly when I was done. Added some to identify and can confirm that this appears to be the source of the leak. Hints welcome. Thanks!

From the appearance of the boss the fluid is leaking out of, I would say you lost a bolt out of the case.

So, did you get it fixed?

He edited his initial post and says it was due to a missing bolt
Yeah, but did that fix the leak?
There are a couple of o-rings that could have been displaced by oil pressure because of the missing bolt not clamping the HST unit tightly to the transmission case. I've seen that happen before on other applications, especially if another bolt or two was loose also.
Just curious.

Tractor was up on blocks within minutes of the leak I figure. Only Just received the bolt ($40 cdn plus tax). Checking for shop manual details on installation and torque now. I had only found images in the parts manual not the service materials around it.

Don't know yet. Just received the bolt. The real investigation begins now. Only docs I found were from parts not shop manual (as of yet... I had checked and checked again but can't find anything including torque spec. thx. Not in Hydraulics but Transaxle on 2-S21 I found the torque 28.9-32.5 ft-lbs I think. Teflon on the bolt is a good sign... will check the other bolts if I can reach them. I don't even know how many I am looking for... will have to go back to the parts diagram... thx
