bx2200 hydraulic strength

The first movement to the right is the powerful curl down position, and if I had the four position valve, I would then be able to go further and get "fast" curl down. If we all agree this is correct, then I am indeed getting powerful curl down. I cannot get fast curl down because it is either seized, or simply not available in this valve.

My curl up is faster than my curl down. The reason is on curl down I am using the pistion side of the cylinder, which gives much power, but less speed due to the higher flow requirements.

My curl up is quite fast. The reason is the fluid is pushing the rod side of the piston which has area of (piston area - rod area) so the same flow rate applied to less area means more speed.

I can't tell you the exact pressure where this stops being true, but I know at 1650psi or less, the bucket curl will not under any circumstances lift the tractor. The booms will, the curl won't.
At proper pressures, the curl can lift the tractor all on it's own. It may not do this from just any angle, but an angle can be found that a curl down alone will lift the tractor.

I know I'm coming in to this thread late but I only started back to the forums recently after taking a couple years off. I have a BX2200 of about the same vintage as yours. I know for a fact I have the 4 position valve because there was a lot of discussion here about the three vs four position valve when I was researching buying the tractor so I made it a point to make sure I got the four. The four position valve allows for hydraulic chute rotation of the front mount snow blower and a hydraulic power angle plow blade if you were so inclined to purchase them.

I can confirm that pushing the control to the right gives "slow" but powerful dump function. On mine if I push further there is a detent and then fast dump. It feels very much like the float position when you shove the control all the way forward.

I can't tell you how much power the fast dump has because I always assumed that it was never intended for that purpose. My slow dump fuction will absolutely raise the front end of the tractor off the ground however.

My curl up is much faster than my dump function unless I use fast dump so I believe this is normal.

Thank-you for adding more information. It sounds like your tractor is holding it's hydraulic pressure quite well. I think we are all in agreement that the first position is powerful, and the second position (which you have, but I think I do not) is faster, but not as powerful. Therefore, the test is valid for all
BX2200 owners because everyone has a powerful curl down, and folks like you also have a fast option as well.

Curl up should be faster, because the shaft takes up space, therefore less volume, and the same GPM's are filling the cylinder.

Regen is fast because the fluid from the shaft side is added to the base of the cyl, along with the reg GPM's.

I have a BX2200 with FEL and a Woods BH6000. When doing BH work, I use down (but not curl) on the loader to plant the toothbar in the ground and lift the front of the tractor off the ground and the rear stabilizers to lift the rear off the ground, placing the entire tractor in the air.
