The hydraulic lever on the BX2200 will not return to center. If I lower the mower deck to the set mowing height the lever will stay down. When rasing it will stay in the up position and you can hear the sound you hear when the pump has reached its limit. I have to manually return the lever to center so i dont burn up the pump.

What is causing this? is it an easy fix? it looks like the lever is attached to a shaft that goes directly into the rear axel housing. Any ideas?

When our BX was new it would return to center. I think there is a linkage arrangement that does it. It soon failed and Ive never investigated because I dont miss it except at full up. Have to remember to center it when you need it centered.

I have a BX2200. I always return mine to center manually. I haven't really thought about it, but I vaguely seem to remember it returning on its own when the tractor was new. I guess I didn't even think about it when I started having to do it myself. It hasn't seemed like a problem.

There is a linkage with a spring tensioner secured with a couple of nuts on a shaft. Look under the right fender. You can see how the tensioner works when you move the lever.

The nuts may need adjustment. It is simple to do but will take trial and error to get the nuts in the right positioning.

If the linkage adjustment fails it may be up to a dealer to provide the fix.

Mine did the same thing and the dealer fixed it through the adjustment process outlined by gwdixon as it was under warranty. As mentioned, you can probably do this by trial and error, but I didn't fool with it myself. Good luck.

Some people actually like it this way so your bb will float; some don't.

On my BX2230 when going up and it hits the stop it will return to center. When going down I do not think it returns as it is gravity down , you can either have the lever all the way down so it floats or in the center so it stops. Not sure if this is correct but I only think it returns to center on the wat up. Now my neighbors BX2360 has spring return for going up and down , but I like the idea of being able to float for when I use the rake.

If You can't get it to return to center by adjustment then You more than likely have a defect in the hydraulic control valve. That's what caused mine to do that and I can tell You the valve is pricy to say the least.

Mine will not return to center from the down position if I have the mower on, or any other implement that keeps the arms from going all the way down. The up is adjustable, but with nothing on the lift to stop it, the lever will return to center when the lift arms get to the bottom..

My BX2230 always returns to center with the mower deck on. Last week I attached the 3 point arms to the hangers on the frame & I noticed it did not return to center when I lowered the deck. After I attached the 3 point arms to the lifts, it began returning to center again.
