I am updating this question because of what I found today when I removed my deck to power wash it. I took the universal off the deck and this is what I observed. The end of the shaft that hooks to the PTO under the tractor I think the universal may be defective. In one direction the universal moves freely but in the other section of the cross it is hard as heck to move. Yes I did re-greese the cross to no avail, still stiff as hadies. I know the dealer stated he couldn't find anything wrong with the deck but I'm not so sure he even took the deck off my tractor to check everything. I have a feeling he ran it heard the noise and said it was OK. I put my spring pins back in the gauge wheels different then they do at the dealer and they had never been touched. Well here's the question if this universal is stiff and won't lossen up with greese is it possible that the caps are dry and making this high pitched noise? I'm wondering if all I need is a new cross to replace a defective one from the factory? Let me know what you all think. Mark
