Am I crazy?
I want a BX2200 because it is totally rugged and deisel.
I do not intend to utilize the fel capability.
I am only mowing 3/4 an acre.
I like the Power steering, the metal hood (what is it with companies making a 7mph tractor aerodynamic???), I like the 3/8"frame, the 4wd for plowing snow in western PA 70' driveway. mabey I will bag leaves, a spreader for fertilizer and lime?, alot a doe though...

Am I crazy? Yep, 'bout like the rest of us./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Obviously, most of us want a FEL and have many uses for them, but if you don't have a use for it, and know that you won't have a use for it in the future . . .well, that's the reason you can buy them without one.

CRAZY
Maybe were all a little crazy. But BX will last you alot of years with little or no problems,it is very well built and a good deal for the money. I can't think of a tractor that comes close as of this momet anyway. As for a FEL if you don't have a use for one save your 2500 bucks. If you would like one at a later date they will most likely still make them. I think of it this way 2500 buck sitting in a garage never to be used dosn't earn intrest. If you only have 3/4 of an acre you probably right and wouldn't have much use for the FEL.

rouge: iwill give a desenting opinion as opposed to my learned friends. i can not imagine a tractor without fel. u will always find a use for it, even plowing snow. do u ever want to move some dirt? do u want to lift something? a fel has many uses, but that is my situation, u must think hard on yours, like it was metioned before u can always add it.

Well the 400 series JD's come without a loader and most are bought that way, the Simplicity GT cost as much or more than the JD455--as much as 12500 dollars-----and most people get those without that little tinsy play loader so why not a BX wothout a loader--'cept it is a real tractor l'est I remind you and tractors should have loaders to complete the ensemble. Seriously, I do not think you are crazy just smart--crazy would be buying a Simplicity 2WD 2 cylinder and paying 12,500 dollars for that piece o'crap. O'gosh, I done it now! J

It's a real shame isn't it? I used to have a simplicity, they used to make good stuff, but after looking at their later offerings, i can't believe how much they've cheapened it, especially with the prices they charge. Before I paid that much money for that, I'd save myself a lot of cash and bought a better one, say an MTD... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Crazy? Heck no! You'd be crazy if you spent the $2500 and never used it. That same money buys some serious implements!

You won't go wrong with the BX, even from a resale point of view. It's built like a tank, and will last forever if taken care of...

Like a fox! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Go ahead and get the BX, then you can kibitz with the rest of us loonies! (speaking for myself of course /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif)

The BX will for sure handle any "traditional" garden tractor duties, and if you really need the capabilities of a "traditional" tractor. (not garden), the BX does a pretty fine job of that too. Plow snow, move stuff around. How tight is your cash flow?

You won't be disappointed with this tractor - even if you're only cutting grass!

It used to take me four hours and a lot of sweat to cut my grass - now it only takes a little over an hour!

I use to have to bag the clippings and now I feed the lawn with 'em.

Rouge, I read your post with interest and was curious what others might say. I think purchasing a "tank" mower like a BX without a loader is a very smart move. Its the way I would buy it if I were shopping for a sub compact tractor. As mentioned, you can purchase a loader later should you find a need for one. The bonus of spending a little more and getting a BX from Kubota or a TC 21 from New Holland is not only the sturdiness of the tractors, but some pride in ownership as well. I think you will have a very versitile tractor if you go the route you are going. Rat...
