I read in the paper last night about some nut who is in the process of driving his brand new Kubota BX2200 all around the country. He hopes to make it into every state and estimates his trip to total 14,000 miles. Sounds to me like an oil change each week! He stated in the article that this was a way for him to celebrate his new Kubota. It would be great to spend that amount of time on a Kubota, but imagine the hours it will have on it. 14,000 miles divided by 9 mph equals 1555 hours and 31 oil changes. Anyone looking for a slightly used BX2200? WOW!!!

RBrown,

Yes, he's a nut, must be retired (not that all retired are nuts) to have the time to do that! Your numbers are just a little off, both BX's have a top speed of 8.1 mph!
So to go 14,000 miles would take him 1728 hours.
Now, if he were on the Might New Holland TC18, more tractor for about the same money, he could go 9.95 mph and make the trip in 1,407 hours! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif That's 40 less days if driving 8 hrs/day!

BX = 216 days TC = 176 days

Aren't numbers fun! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

JimBinMi - How about re-figuring it with my 19.5LR24's on the back? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

MarkC,

Sorry, the Kubota website does not list a ground speed for your tractor...must go either too fast or too slow to calculate! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

But keep in mind my comparison...dollar for dollar, more tractor and more capability for about the same money, I think your tractor with all of your adaptations costs slightly more than these! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And I though 20 mph was SLOW!!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Wen,

Is that all that your 68 hp will go? Let me see, more than triple the hp but only double the speed! The TC18 truly reigns here! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Make sure you go vote for the TC18 today! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The guy evidently has never been from Amarillo,TX to Winslow, AZ on I-40. After the first 10 miles the scenery doesn't change much for the next 1000 miles. I can't imagine driving 9 miles/hour across there.

And I sure wouldn't want to make that trip without an air-conditioned cab, either, unless I could go fast enough to stir up a good breeze./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Somehow after spending 5 years in Lubbock at Texas Tech, the song Lubbock Texas in my rear view mirror brings back memories. Lots of cotton and lots of dust.
