Dave,

Congrats on your BX purchase. I also had heard from friends who have larger tractors that I should have bought bigger, a different color, turf or ag tires and so forth. I picked the BX anyway because of Kubota's reputation and because I used to work with them when I did landscaping work. Small tractor? Yep, it sure is. Does it move dirt, gravel, rocks, snow and mulch? Yep, sure does. Does it cut well? Better than my Simplicity garden tractor (and I thought that was great too). Does it fit under my trees and go well on slopes? You guessed it - yep! Did I really need more tractor and a bigger payment? No. I have friends that have bigger machines of different colors and tire types - and they are all too happy to stop by and lend some horsepower when the job calls for it.

I am very pleased with the tractor, and I'm sure you will be too. Be sure to check in here from now and then - you'll learn a lot about tractors and maintaining your property.

Best of luck!

Gregg

Dave,

Congrats and you will love the BX! I mow 4 acres and maintain a few more. The ground clearance has never been an issue. When mowing, I am on fairly even ground with some slopes. I remove the mower for most other tasks of any duration and/or difficulty. Once the mower is removed (very easy to accomplish this), I have no problems with clearance.
I would leave the tiller attached for ballast when using your loader if don't have a box blade or other implement for rear weight. As long as ground clearance is okay with the mower attached, it will add some weight also. My tractor weighs a couple hundred pounds more to start with (around 1500 lbs) and I have moved light loads on level ground without the weight of a rear implement, but only when a very light load on level ground, taking it slow and keeping it low.

Best wishes!

Terry
