I want to buy a Tractor to do the following: Mow Lawn, Blow Snow and Till Garden. The majority of the time will be spent mowing lawn. I have just started studying tractors and I keep coming back to the Kubota (over Deere). I have had 2 dealers here in Utah tell me don't buy the BX2200 buy the B7500. I really like the BX2200 best. What is your recommendation and your logic behind it?
Thanks in advance

I had the same decision as you.. How flat and level is your ground? The BX is lower and more stable on hills and ditches, where the 7500 has more ground clearance. The BX also turns a lot sharper which is nice around the house. Personally, I liked the BX enough to buy. It seems more family friendly and my wife is less intimidated by it. I suggest try them both out on your property... Have fun! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Ok, you want someone who has a BX2200 and who demoed a 7500 to tell you to get the BX. Get the BX! Really, it depends on your uses. The BX is a homeowner tractor designed to be user friendly and stable on hill sides with a very manuverable short wheelbase and a high degree of versatility. It is just as much a "real" tractor as the 7500 and in some ways much superior. The 7500 is a better in the rough tractor with a more traditional tall and narrow lay out. It is better for the heaviest loader work but do not think the BX cannot hold it's own. It is a hard working little machine. Why dealers including mine push the 7500 over the BX beats me but after using both I chose the BX. You seem to be coming to the same conclusion. The BX is not really smaller than the 7500, it is wider, lower, shorter, and weight is only about 60 lbs difference at most and felt every bit as powerful and torquey as the 7500. I am sure either would make you happy but which one makes you happiest--you know which one--go with your gut feeling. J

4 WheelRider;

Did the dealers explain why not the BX? There may be a valid reason, or it may be for their own gain. Have them define what use that you have in mind the BX cannot perform, that the B7500 can. (Have them be specific).

You are not the first to get steered away by a dealer from the BX (as TresCrows said he also was), so I suspect there is something else afoot. (Profit margins? Inventory issues?). Buy what suits your needs, not their needs.

Of what I read also try out a BX thats the best unit for mowing,if you have have slopes uneven ground plus lot things to mowe around.
The BX turns on a dime and its a low profile, and far as snowblowing it can keep up w/the B7500 if not better.

What was the price different between the BX,B7500 at your dealer, and why did the dealer try and convice you to purchase the B7500.
Will the dealer let you demo both models.

If you heart set on the BX than you should purchase the tractor, for you got to feel comfortable.

Take your time in your quest towards your new investment.

I agree with the other guys; buy the one YOU like best; the one you're most comfortable with. If you don't, you'll always wonder if you made a mistake. Either one will do the jobs you mentioned. The 7500, because of its width and ground clearance would be a little better for tilling; the BX will be better for mowing, but they're both good for either job.

The only consideration is if you are considering a backhoe one day, then the B7500 makes more sense. Other than that, sounds like the BX will be exactly what you need. Did the dealers give you any reason why they thought the 7500 would be better for you? Any doubt in your mind, get a demo on both of them.

Ill agree with most of the others.I have had a BX 1800 for 8months now it has more than enough power to do all you or Iwant to do. I also have the 211 loader,a great power weelbarrow, handles full buckets of dirt. One thing to add is the BX is the ulltimate lawn&garden tractor not really a compact. it allso has a drawbar to accept current lawn&garden equipment, you may allready own, aerrator, speader, sweeper, wagon, ect. The hitch on 7500 is too big & thick,so modefication would have to be done,to tractor or implements. P.S. smaller wagons, arrators, ect.are wayyy!! cheaper to buy

I think aside from an inventory issue and the fact Kubota has had trouble supplying enough BX's Tims post above hits the nail on the head. The BX is a new format for the utility tractor, a sub compact. Many people and dealers too are confused as to what the BX is and what it can do. It is quite a bit more than a GT. If someone is using those tiny "toy" implements on their BX then they are Way underating it's capabilities. What makes the BX look smaller is that it sits low on smaller wheels. Weight, length, horsepower are all approximently equal to the 7500 and the BX width is greater. It is much more manuverable and stable feeling and I have every confidence as I pull my 7548 box blade with teeth down ripping up my muddy gravel drive (hard as a rock dry and soupy mud when wet) in prep for smoothing and more gravel that it does it as well as the 7500 could. Not to argue that the FEL available to the 7500 has more raw power but let's look at some specs that I validated on my demo of the 7500 vs BX. The BX loader is rated a 5.5 GPM and the LA272 for the 7500 is 3.6. This manifests itself with a somewhat more responsive feel. The BX 211 loader full time to raise is 2.9 sec vs 3.1 for the 272 loader. Max digging depth for the BX 211 loader is 4.7 inches vs 3.1 for the 7500 and it's 272. Reach at max height is 29.9 for the BX and 26.8 for the 272 7500 combo AND max lift height for the BX and 211 is 71.3 and the 7500 and 272 combo is only 69.7. Even moving up to the 302 loader does not better the 211 by much in these catagories if at all, the one thing they do have over the 211 is the max lift weight and breakout force, nonetheless, you will find the BX with 211 loader a willing worker and quite a bit more than a "power wheelbarrow". Comapred to my human powered FEL(shovel and wheelbarrow) I certainly would not be able to compete since my max lift force is only about 10 lbs repeated over and over and my max break out force is only about 180 lbs. vs 950 and 480 respectively for the 211. My max reach height after the 1000th shovel full is about 30 inches as opposed to 71.3 for the BX and by about that time I am headed for a shade tree while the BX I am sure would still be digging away tireslessly. I never even considered the BX when I decided on the B7500. I did consider one of the larger B-servies however /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Now that I've had the B7500 for almost a month, and have 18 or 20 hours on it, I am still happy with the purchase. In retrospect, the BX2200 may have been enough for the work I am doing with the B7500, but I have my doubts. The lower center of gravity, and the slightly smaller overall size of the BX certainly has its appeal. However, there have already been at least a half-dozen instances when I was just a little over the capabilities of the B7500. I'm certain that that number would be much larger if I'd gotten a BX.

For your uses (<font color=blue>Mow Lawn, Blow Snow and Till Garden.</font color=blue>), I think I would lean toward the BX. If you are thinking you need different capabilities (BH or post hole digger, or box scraper), I'd lean toward the B series.

Right tool for the job and all that. Who it was that said: <font color=blue>"When the only tool you have is a hammer, all your problems begin to look like nails."</font color=blue> ?
