Hello. I just bought some land adjacent to my lot, and at 16 acres, I need to step up from my trusty TG1860. My local Kubota dealer is less than 3 miles away, and they are a swell bunch of joes. I bought my TG from them, as well as several small power tools. The problem is, they are a smaller dealer in a rural area, and their prices are not stellar.

For a BX2200 with 54"MMM, is $10,400+tax atrociously high? I know about Carver equipment, but I think loyalty to a local dealer who'll be there when I need help is worth something...within reason.

These guys are also finding me a buyer for my TG.

Thanks, Tom Marincic

Tom, I don't know a lot about prices, but sounds to me like you've found good reasons to do business with the local dealer.

Tom, in July I was being quoted less than 10K for a BX2200 w/60". I want to say around $9600. With the economy dropping since then, I would think prices may have gone down. The rates sure have.

...I also could not imagine buying a BX with anything less than a 60" deck. I have a ZD21 with the 60", and have not even come close to loading up the engine.

Thanks for the info. Regarding the 60" deck, I mow on steep grades with my 48" deck/TG1860, and I need more power. The TG has the same 18HP diesel as the BX1800, but weighs 300 pounds less and has 2wd only. On the steepest grades, I just come to a stop, without either wheel spinning, and with the tranny screaming. No, the belt is not slipping (shaft-to-belt drive).

Thanks rmc, glad you got such a super deal. I think I'll go with my local guys. Recession or no, I think this is what they have to sell Kubotas for to be in business.

Best, Tom Marincic

FWIW, I don't think the price is atrociously high. I think if you shop the region or nation you can find lower prices. But I think you are right on the money about supporting your dealer. If they were worthless, that would be another story.
I do agree on the 60" mower, though.

I believe in supporting local dealers, except when they cost me $1000 + up front. If your local dealer is a good business man he will understand why you need to buy from the cheapest dealer and still provide service to you. If not, maybe he isnt the dealer you thought he was.

PS. Go with the 60" MMM

Tim, yes I agree that loyalty has its limits. But go to the Carver Equipment site; a bare BX2200 is $8900, a 54" MMM is $1450, so my dealer is quoting me $50 more. $1000 would be too much I agree.

Yes, the 60" deck would be nice, but I need to mow uneven areas and between fences and trees. I need the 54".

Thanks for the input. Tom
