BX2200 \"Proper\" Fuel Filtration
Well. The BX2200 and I have had some time to get used to each other in the past month:
- Cut down/cut up four dead trees; rented a 20 cu yd dumpster & loaded it up w/FEL. That was FUN.
- Swapped the ag tires for turf tires; dropped the FEL & mounted the 54" MMM. Cut the grass on the property twice sofar (that's all I could do 'cause it's been raining every day for the past two months in this part of Florida). That was Almost Fun.
But is all sweetness and light? NO. Found out rather quickly that the fuel system had water in it. Making a long story short, I replaced both filters & drained about a gallon of fuel out of the tank to flush out any remaining water, et al.
But I must say that I am really disappointed in the fuel filtration system on the BX2200:
- No fuel shut-off valve/drain valve at the tank
- Crappy fuel filters, which are Very Expensive when bought from the dealer
- No water separator / sediment bowl
I'm used to large diesel fuel filtration systems, in particular those used in marine applications, which usually have a combination fuel filter/water separator which is very easy to service, or at least drain.
I'd like to fit something like a Racor 140 unit to the BX2200, but being 6" tall and 3" dia. its a bit of a squeeze in the two stock filter locations, not to mention difficult to get at.
Has anyone attacked the fuel filter/fuel feed system on the BX2200 in these areas?
