Running fine then dies. Will run fine if key held in starter position. If I release to normal "on" position it dies. Bad ignition switch? other?

Fuel shut off solenoid?

You check the fuses, if seating on the tractor, right side, behind the removable screen at your feet, I think it is the yellow one, look close at it. If not as others have said Check the fuel shut off solenoid.

Fuses are OK. Where is the fuel solenoid? Sorry to be such a dumbie?

I can get you a picture of the solinoid on my bx1800 tomorrow, assuming its components are in the same location as your bx2200.

The newer BX series has the solenoid right up top on the right rear of the engine compartment when facing forward; shiny steel/sheet metal body, tubular, maybe 3" long. I could not find the thing on my own BX2200 so far.

Just a follow up. It was the stop solenoid as suggested in the first few posts above. The solenoid is located just below the air filter hose going into the intake manifold. Thanks to all for your help.
