Another possibility is the injection pump. Someone recently had a problem with the injection pump on his BX and replaced it and it fixed it. A lot of people, including me didn't think it was the injection pump. I don't know how you test it. I also don't know if there is a way to test injectors, but that would be something I'd be looking at. You also might want to make sure the small lift pump is working. You should be able to here it clicking if you turn the key but don't start the tractor. These will fail, but the main injection pump will pull fuel from the tank, just not enough.
The way your decribe it, it sounds like its missing on one cylinder. If the valves are opening and closing at the right time, if you have plenty of compression, then it seems like it has to be fuel related. If the lift pump is getting enough fuel to the main injection pump, they it has to be a fuel line between the main pump and injector, the injector itself, or the main injection pump.
