BX2200 Sounds

I HAVE A BX2200 , THOSE SOUNDS ARE NORMAL FOR A KOBOTA, THE ENGINE SHAKES THE LOSE FITTED HOOD ON SHUT DOWN . THE TRACTOR IS NOISY BECAUSE OF THE HYDROLYIC PUMP, SOME KIND OF FLOW VALVE MOUNTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION.
THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE SEAT IS TO STIF AND CAUSES MY
BACK TO HURT . THE SEAT ALSO SHUCKS BACK AND FORTH CAUSING
THE OPERATOR TO MODULATE THE FOOT CONTROL AND THEREFORE CAUSING THE TRACTOR TO COME TO ABRUBT HALTS (FROWARD & BACK.
I HAVE HAD FOUR KUBOTA TRACTORS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH
THE TRANMISSION OR ENGINES , BUT I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH
THE SHORT SIDED APPROACH TO OPERATOR COMFORT.KUBOTA SHOULD
FIX THIS PROBLEM . ONE MORE THING, THE MOWER DECK WILL VIBRATE AT LOW TO MID ENGINE RPM .

The hood has only one center mounting point in the front allowing the hood to hit on both sides. With the larger BX2200 engine, the shaking appeared to me to be greater than on the BX1800. Some adjustable stops up front might help if I can find some small ones. I tested one BX2200 that shook the hood loudly at idle. The BX1800 was a bit more docile due probably to the smaller displacement engine.

The whine is from the hydraulics and normal from my recollection of my last hydrostatic tractor. I noticed on my BX2200 that I hear a lot of this noise coming from the ROPS. It's like a radio speaker on my tractor.

How's the accuracy of the fuel level gauge? Mine reads very poorly. Half a tank and it reads empty.

I would like to use a synthetic transmission oil, but Kubota will not give out specs on Super UDT. They keep telling me the warranty requires Super UDT so I guess I have to stick with it for now.

I love that power steering. Now, if I can just learn to use that foot peddle better before I get hydrostatic whiplash. JD and Cub Cadet have a much better foot control to my liking. Also, no cruise control..... One dealer (I didn't buy from) told me the battery compartment knob was the cruise control, but could not get it to work for some reason.

Don't read me wrong. I have had Kubota's for 25 years and would have no other. My wife will probably bury me with my Kubota. At least she said she would like to.

There's a lot less whining from the HST when you use synthetic, too.

I'd rather listen to the dealer whine than the tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

When they perfect that Amsoil (or anything else) to the point that I have to look at the tach to tell whether the engine's running, I'm buying./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

That's the only downside, Bird. I'm running up hours faster than I used to because it's so quiet, I keep forgetting to shut it down. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My discussions with Kubota dealer and factory have resulted in no help in specing out a synthetic HST fluid. "Use Super UDT only for warranty purposes" is the reply. I believe Super UDT is only a winterized version of regular UDT at twice the cost.

If synthetic fluid can help with high temp., winter use, and "noise", I would like to try it. Is anyone using a synthetic fluid in late model Kubota HST where Super UDT is required? What are you using?

After posting my request for users of synthetic HST fluids, I gave Kubota a third try. To my surprise, I finally found someone that would discuss the issue. Seems Kubota has been getting a lot of questions on Super UDT. As it turns out, Super UDT is fully synthetic according to the service rep I talked to today. I guess that accounts for the price premium over regular UDT. My problem is solved.

Go to the oil & lubricants topic in the main menu. Read two or three days and then do a search of the archives. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

If it is a full synthetic, it's a changed formula from what it used to be, a semi-synthetic.

As Wen says, this issue is discussed fully in the Lubricants forum, including the official word from Kubota's North American warranty department manager.

When you read all that stuff, you'll also find that most of us who use synthetic, including myself, use Amsoil ATH.

jconner,

Which Kubota models require super UDT? Mine recommends super UDT but says UDT is fine. For my application (gear tractor) I can see no reason for their recommendation of super UDT over UDT.
