Those do look mighty nice, I'll have to remember them if mine ever drop off. I bought my 2230 8-1/2 years ago with 591 hours. I'm at 1230 now. It didn't have boots at all for the first 2 years, then I saw a thread like this and thought I should do something about them, so as a stop gap, I cut some bike innertube and stretched that over them. That lasted about a year and they got ripped apart. I still haven't fixed them properly. There is a little play in them, but it doesn't seem any worse than when I bought it. W/o any grease, I guess there is nothing to keep the dirt in, so there's never much to wear them down? :drink:

What looks nice about the clear rubber boots?

I recently purchased new boots for the L4760 and was shocked to find they were also made of this translucent polymer/rubber. Given how quickly the original boots deteriorated I'm not holding out too much hope these new boots will survive when exposed to UV or interact with their environment. Almost every rubber or polymer can improve its UV resistance by being black in color. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another cost cutting effort that yields even worse quality. Not many elastomeric parts (if any) in any industry that are translucent and there are good reasons why.

They are definitely a different material. And yes ... I don't think I've ever seen clear rubber/plastic used in this application before. However, has to be better than the originals that were black and just fell part in a few years.

I have zero confidence these new ones will last any longer, but I almost guarantee they were cheaper for Kubota to purchase.

I'm predicting they will degrade into a more entertaining flaky splintered plastic rather than powdery black dust.

Actually, I ought to cover them with something, protected from UV they might last a long time.

Slide a piece of bike inner tube over them and zip tie before putting them on.
