BX2200 Vx B7500 Test Drive

Just got back from the local dealer. Me and a buddy test drove the BX2200 and the B7500. I was hoping that it would help me make my choice an easier one but guess what...It didn't I can really see the benifits of each. The BX was plenty powerful for all chores that I could come up with around the house and was was easy to drive. The B7500 felt more like a 'real tractor' to me but would be much more than I need for my home. The big problem is that I have 5ac in Maine at our vacation house that I could see myself doing chores on the B7500 with. Tough choice... I got a price of $13000 for the BX w/ FEL & 60"MMM and $15410 for the B5700 with the same attachments both before tax.

I'll tell you how it was put to me, find the tractor that is the correct size, and buy the next model up if your budget allows.

That's the same advice I give people when they ask my recommendation for a PC, particularly for first time buyers. They always discover new ways to use the PC they could never have thought of before they bought one. It's also the advice I followed for my first tractor. Went in to buy a B7500, ended up with a NH TC25D.

Was the price of the B7500 with HST or gear trans? Dealer in N.H. is advertising B7500 gear trans with FEL for 10990 and BX2200 with FEL for 10995.

Both are capable machines pick the one that feels right to you. You will not be disappointed with either. I personally own a B-7500 and it serves my 6 acres very well.

buy whatever u feel more comfortable with, but i think it good advice by westbilly. thats what i did was all set on b7500 then switched to b2400, am not sorry. good luck !! those prices did seem a bit high.imho.

To be the contrary one, if the advice is to buy one size larger than what you need then you needed the larger tractor to begin with and was just trying to justify smaller/cheaper.
One size bigger will not always work if it is the BX's small size that was the attraction/advantage in the first place so why then buy a tractor that is to big to go and do what you need done. Good luck with your decision but weigh carefully the pluses and minuses of both--too big can be as bad as too small depending on your uses. I could say, but I won't, figure all your fantasy tractor jobs and then buy a tractor one size smaller that will be perfect for the other 95% and hire out the rest. J

I am with Frank here. I too was set on the 7500, though the 2200 would have probably done what I needed. I just didn't like the "looks" of the 2200, too much like a lawn mower, though I know it is nothing like a lawn mower. I got the 2410, I think it was extra money well spent.

Good advice on jumping a tractor size. That is unless you were a bit unreasonable in your first assessment of what you needed. That may have been already too big and jumping a size could be worse. That said, aside from hp which you can never have too much of, is the physical size of the 2410, 2710, and 2910 (numbers?) that much bigger that is would cause a big problem for the buyer? I bought the B7500 and have to admit that I never even glanced at it's bigger siblings. It was already MORE than large enough for my needs.
