Bruce, there have been many price reports here. Look under the Buying a Kubota topic and read the threads that discuss the BX. 12% off list is a good discount on Kubota tractors and accessories. If you found a dealer who was glutted with machines and was starving, maybe you could get 15% off list. To get the most aggressive pricing I have seen on Bush Hog products look at http://www.affordableequipment.com and give them a call or email. Good luck.

Bruce,

I, too, am from upstate NY. I purchased the BX2200 w/60" deck, the BX2750 snowblower and the LA211 loader for 15500. Haven't used the blower yet -- but I'm very happy with the rest of the purchase.

Bruce - also an upstate newyorker, near Syracuse. Where are you? I don't think the forum master likes us to discuss particular dealers in public, but if you e-mail me I will be happy to let you know where I bought my tractor, and my experiences with the shops in this area. PaulB starrynf@aol.com

Just purchased a 2200 with a 54 inch deck, loader, and brush guard for 11800 plus tax. Seemed like a fair price.

BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

I hadn't noticed this before but our BX has an external fan in front of the rear transaxle. This is a terrible idea if you plan on using the tractor as a tractor, i.e. actually going on unpaved ground where a stick can find the fan. (one did today just barely; wife said something touched the fan and she stopped it and pointed to the rear of the tractor. Smart me said the fan is in the front, looked under tractor. DUH...) Do all HST Kubotas have this? I'm going to have to hobble up some sort of screen. Sometimes they old gear driven Ford starts to look mighty smart.

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

del, I've only looked over a BX2200 once and didn't check it out very closely at that, but I'm wondering just where this fan is that you're talking about. I know the engine and radiator appeared to be in backwards, but thought that might not be a bad idea to blow the hot air away from the operator, and not get as much dust, grass, etc. to clog up the air flow through the radiator, but is that the fan you're referring to?

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

It's not the radiator fan, it's a fan on the end of the driveshaft back by the rear transaxle

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

del, the next time I'm by the dealer, I'm going to have to look at a BX a little closer because I've never seen anything like that. So to answer your first question, no, not all the HSTs have such a fan.

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

del...B1700 HST has no second fan like you are describing. I know for sure that the 2 tractors use the same motor (model D905E), but with different max. rpm, hence the difference in hp.The fan therefore must be related to a non-motor function, maybe it cools the final drive?? If you find out what the heck it is there for please let us know.

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

I must not have read the owners manual before. With those big fat original equipment tires, it is OK to float across ponds, and the extra fan on the driveshaft is supposed to act like a propeller (although I'd want to buy one of those big PTO driven ones for serious fishing). The drawback of course is with the PTO prop, you can't use the PTO driven attachment to remove pond grass.

Re: BX2200 (Or all HST) WEAK POINT

Both the BX1800 and 2000 have the fan, my BX1800 has one, I think it is for extra cooling for the HST? I have a Ariens GT 17 garden tractor that has a fan in the same place as the BX, and yep the engine is in backwards. I think I like the backwards engine idea because the radiator doesn't pickup the trash like my neighbors B2710 does.

Bruce, I also live in upstate New York near Syracuse. Have you purchased your BX2200? I have a BX2200 with 54" deck, loader and snowblower with 45 hours. I am thinking about selling and purchasing a larger tractor. If you have any interest you can call me at 315.685.4303. I can make you a great deal.

Jon;

You have a post dated 10/29/00 re: possibly selling a BX2200 with mower/FEL/snowblower.

I see from your telephone number that you live around the Skaneateles are; I live in Dewitt.

I've been looking at tractors and seem to be settling on the Kubota's, with the BX2200 being
the most affordable and seemingly able to handle what I need.

Is the mower a mid-mount? Is the snowblower a 2 stage front mount? Has it worked well for you
in the snow?

What is your asking price?

I'm in the process of moving to a new house - over 7 acres (about 5 of that rough lawn) and a 300'
gravel driveway; would probably not move until January, which is about when I'm looking to purchase
the Kubota (or may just have the driveway plowed this winter and wait until spring to purchase).

You can email me directly at jimhunter@longley-jones.com.

Thanks in advance.
