I wanted to thank this forum for all the information I was able to obtain while shopping for my sub compact tractor. I just thought I would share a little bit of how it went.
First stop was a the local case dealer where I had purchased my 3186 Cub Cadet back in 99 along with a tiller and a snow blower. After looking at a DX24E I received a quote for trade in on the DX24E with FEL and 60" MMM for $11,050.
Next stop was across the street to look at a TZ25DA New Holland tractor. I soon realized it was the exact same tractor. There trade in price for the same thing was $9,700. Looks like the Case dealer could care less about having a return customer.
I finally went down the street where there was a JD dealer who also sold Kubota. I drove both the JD2210 and the Kubota BX2230. It was a cool mourning and the JD had a hard time starting but the BX2230 did not. I also noticed the JD seemed to have a sharper turn radius but the inside wheel spun up a lot of gravel, not sure what it would do to the lawn.
I ended up working out a deal on the BX2230 with FEL and 60" MMM for $8550 trade. In case you where wondering his cash price on the machine was $12,500. I felt comfortable with the trade price since I read on here to expect the BX to be up to $1,200 less than the NH TZ25DA and it ended up $1150 less on the trade.
I have to say I believe I would be happy with any of these tractors but for me it came down to cost. I ended up adding the rear box, to fill with rocks, for balast and a very nice Lorenz Model 430 rear snow blower that the dealer still had since we had very little snow this last winter. The blower was $1,900 and the weight box was $130.
The best thing is I will be taking delivery by Friday since he had everything in stock. He must sell a lot of the BX2230 since he had 10 of them in stock.
