Have a new BX 2230. Approximately 20 hours so far. Anyway, have had the FEl for the last 15 hours. today, for the first time it began to run rought. Thought there might be air in the lines so I jimmied the bucket up and down and tilted the bucket back and forth. Machine ran rough when lifting and rolling bucket up. Checked transmission fluid and appeared to be a little low. Added about half a quart and the FEL began pewrforming more smoothly again. Question is, why is this thing eating transmission fluid? Second have I done any damage?
BTW, picked up my ROPS work lights and added them today.

Can someone give me some advice? need some help. Should I drain the fluid and change the filter and put in new fluid? Was going to wait til 50 hours but have the stuff to do it.

Give the forum some time, people will respond, but it is a little slower with the holidays. Folks are busier.
1/2 quart is nothing. Might not have even been low. You might have, or the dealer might have, checked it where it was not totally level. I sure would call the dealer first. Under warranty. check quick connects.

When running the FEL, your engine speed should be at least 3/4 to full throttle.

Assuming there are no leaks. Using the FEL and cycling the both up, down and rollback will remove all air that is in the system. There may have been some in the 3PH. Keep any eye on level for awhile until it stays full. If this only happened for a short time tractor should be OK.

Thanks, guys. Sorry about the initial posting frenzy- just don't want to screw up and damage the new baby. I will keep you all posted. Checked the level of the transmission and still seems low. After adding to the case, the lifting arms ran smoothly, the rolllback function was still "jerky" (rolling forward did not seem to be an issue). Checked the quick connects and they seem okay.

Check the unit for leaks. When mine was new I found a slightl leak under the front end at a couple of connections for the FEL plumming.

Also make sure your 3-point hitch lever is back to the center position as it can rob flow from the FEL if it is engaged.

Good luck,

The unit is leaking like a sieve from around the plumbing under the seat. Think I have it located. Now, the question is- do I attempt to locate the leak myself and repair, or do I have my dealer pick up and fix under warranty? Dealer says he will have to charge for pick up and delivery. I countered that they were supposed to deliver the tractor to start with and never did as I ppicked it up. If it has lost alot of fluid, then the cost of replacing the fluid would be as much as the pick up cost. This is crap- have only had the machine for three weeks.

Something like this should be a warranty repair. I know my dealer has a road repair truck that will come to your location to do repairs - they might not come for a couple of days though. Picking up the tractor is usually not covered by a lot of dealers - but I would think in this situation they should either send somebody out - at their expense - to fix the problem, or they should pick the tractor up and actually check it out this time before they give it back to you.

Frankly if it was me I would ***** a little to Kubota too - in the end it was really their fault that the tractor is in this condition, it should have been checked at the factory before it was shipped to the dealer. 20 hours is not even broken in yet and the argument could be made that the dealer could have reasonably expected the tractor to be delivered to them in working condition - I.E. not leaking all of it's hydraulic fluid out.
