I just purchased a BX2230 and think its great. However, the manual says the hydraulic lift arm should return to the neutral postion after raising or lowering but mine doesn't. Anyone else notice if yours does or not? I notice that it makes a fairly loid noise until I manually return the lever to neutral.

My 2200 does it also at times. Mine does it more often at idle or a little higher. At higher RPMs, it happens less frequently or never. Mine is intermittent, so I'm not going to worry about it.

I believe you can make an adjustment to make it work. Mine coms back going up, but not down but it doesnt' bother me so I don't worry about it. As to the noise, it is the relief valve most likely and will rob hydraulic power from your other attachments.

I know there have been posts in the past about the adjustment, so you can probably find them doing searches.

I haven't tried it with the RPM's past half way yet, just while I was sitting at idle and trying everything. Maybe when I crank it up a bit, but we will see.

Your lever should return to the center position when the 3 point reaches the up position. It is an adjustment problem. Surfran, The lever will not return when placed in the down position. It stays down in the "float" position which is normal.

SCB got it right. If it does not return to center when you put it in the up position you should either make the adjustment yourself or get the dealer to do it.

You really don't want the pressure relief valve to be operating excessively...heats the hydraulic fluid up more than it normally would be heated, if nothing else...

Now without going out to look and test, I can't say this for sure...but I think there are times when the lever centers when put in the down position too. But that my be when the MMM is off and something, or nothing, is on the 3PH.

My lift never returned to center position either. The dealer said that it had to be "revved up" to return to center.

HOWEVER, when I was repairing the infamous fuel leak (fuel sender falling out of tank), I noticed that somehow there was a grade 8 CARRIAGE BOLT wedged between the fuel tank and steel rod connected to the lift lever! Every time I was moving the lift lever, it was rotating the carriage bolt against the fuel tank. I now have a fairly deep cut in the bottom of the tank...

The good news is that now it returns to center when the lift is raised all the way up. The bad news is it also FREQUENTLY FALLS to the lower position while traveling. This is obviously worse.

Henro,
You may be right. I don't have a mower and my lever has never returned on it's own from the lowered position. Maybe someone who has a mower can let us know if there is a difference. Wait, You have a mower. Maybe you could let us know if it returns to center next time you mow.

Not Walt, but mine did just the opposite, it would return too soon, and when I asked about it, the dealer (shop mgr) said he knew exactly what it was. It now returns as soon as the implement, or mower is setting at the max height. I do notice that higher rpms make it work better.

Before it would not get to full height before cutting off. There is a rod that needs cutting down and chamfering.

Hope this helps

Good Day:

My 2200 does the same thing when I am raising the mmm at low rpms. If I raise it when the rpms are at 2200-2300 (my usual mowing) then there is no problem and the lever returns as normal.

You'll enjoy your machine!
