Above your right rear tire is a bronze threaded rod with a spring and two nuts on it. You can see it move when you move the hydraulic lever. Tighten down the bolts about 1 inch, this causes increased tension on the spring when the lever is up and the added tension pushes the lever back to neutral. If you hear a continous grinding noise after the lever pops back, then back off the tension slowly until the lever pops back and you don't hear the noise. It may take a few turns, but you will get it. I just fixed mine that way. There is a spring on the front of the rod also that will cause the rod to pop back from the down position but its much harder to reach.

OK, I'll check it out. Finally got to try it out the new tractor this morning after the grass finally dried.

I noticed that I am hearing that whirring sound like the power steering or a hydraulic valve makes in the bypass mode from time to time. It just happens sporadically when I'm not turning or raising or lowering anything. What's with that?

And should I be manually placing the lift lever back in neutral after lowering the deck since it doesn't return automatically? Could that be causing the sound mentioned above?

SnailTrax.

So how do you keep it in float if it returns from the down position????

I don't know about that one. The manual says it sould return from either position so it must not affect the float.
On the other hand I do not hear the relief valve when the lever is left in the down position. I have cut grass in both modes and see no difference. BTW, I e-mailed the Kubota Corp. service guys about this and they have promised a reply. If I get one I will cut and paste it for you guys.

It is in float all the time. There is no down pressure on this 3 point. If you could see a cut-away of the tractor it would be very evident as to why.

Sounds reasonable enough to me, lowering the lever merely lets gravity work its thing on the mower or implement. Only when the lever is UP past the halfway point does the lift kick in.

I would call that "half-float." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In true float the implement would be free to move up and down. When the 3PH lever is in the center position, the implement is free to move up, but is held in position and will not drop.

Now in the event the implement is just touching the ground when the 3PH was fully lowered, Then I guess it would act like a it was in float mode all the time. Most of the time that is not the case with my attachments.

What I don't know is if the 3PH handle on my BX is in the down position, and does not return to center, is the 3PH in a true float condition? In other words, would it move both up and down equally easily, as an implement tried to follow a very irregular surface, like washboard or wavy ground?

That is something I can't make happen with positioin control on my larger tractor. The ground can push the implement up, but if there is too much of a dip, the implement hangs until the ground comes back up to touch it...

I cut 4 acres with some fairly large dips and such with the lever back in the "neutral" position. It looks like a golf course out there. ( Set at 2 inches) From what I see in the manual its correct to have the lever in neutral after raising or lowering,
so I'm betting it works ok that way. ( Of course, I have lost bets before!)

Maybe this is overkill, I drove the 2230 all over with the deck down and the lever 1st in down position, then in the neutral position. The deck stayed on the ground both ways.

when you move the lever down the deck should go to it's lowest point (or lowest knob set point) and then the lever should return to the neutral position own it's own....same when rasing the deck, the deck will just about top out then the lever should return to neutral, give the lever another yank to the up direction and the deck will move up about another 1/2 inch topping out so you can set the knob in the "top out position"
