BX2230 Implements

I am just curious over the size and brand of implements most of you are using on BX's. I was a little surprised to find the limited weight and sizes in the manual, contrary to the 24" aft of the 3ph lift spec. In fact, it would be hard to find, say, a brush cutter in the weight range they spec. I see the Woods Estate series is fairly close to the recomended limits. However, typical Kubota, one could probably exceed the listed recomendations without too much difficulty.

I have a BX23 and have the WOODS estate series rotary cutter. Used this cutter for a few test passes through a field with 1 foot tall grass weeds and nultiflora rose bushes. After adjusting the top link appropriatley so it would float better I was quite pleased with the cut. I am comparing this to my former B2410 and 4' WOODS rotary cutter.

My advice is to stick with implements designed specifically for the subcut or BX series. Hookup and maneuvering is easier. The hitch pins are also at a lower more optimal height for the subcut tractor. I just bought a XB carryall from Northern tools and it looks to be a perfect fit for the BX tractor. I had a regular carryall for my B2410 and although it may fit on a BX it would probably be somewhat oversized and not have as much lift with the 3 point hitch.

I also have a regular Kubota box blade but would prefer the WOODS Estate boxblade instead. Deaker gave me a good price on this leftover when I bought the tractor. The Kubota blade feels slightly oversized for the BX.

Woods was the first to really jump on the sub-CUT size issues and make a full line of implements that are right sized for tractors like the BX. That was then, but now, many companies like King Kuter, Midwest and others are making the same smaller implements. Most CAT 0 or 1 implements will be just fine, but its a width issues more than anything on some of them. A 5' RB is nice since when angled its just about perfectly the width of the BX, anything bigger and you wont pull it very well. Same goes for BB's, go bigger than a 4' and you are not going to be happy.

Of all the implements I've heard more complaints about the rear mowers and brush cutters since they are heavy and stick out a good ways from the 3pt.

Best advice, buy the smaller sub-CUT sized implements and go play.

All my tools are full Cat1 ... I did the TBN (sorry to the guy who documented the fix ... just can't 'member who to give credit to) lift arm mod and have absolutely, positively no probs with hookups, lifting, pulling, powering or anything else. My 5' blade is 280#, 4' box 480#, 6' rake 270#, 4' hog 440#.
