I feel really glad and lucky to have my new little workhorse.

I had the luxury of spending the day at home today. I had been subpoenaed to be a witness in a trial and was waiting to be called, they didn't get around to me. Oh well, took the suit off at about 10 and went out into the yard with the tractor. planted two pine trees, cleared five or six large piles of dead and recently cut trees, and finished leveling a walking trail (so my tractor could easily navigate it), and started clearing out another trail. My back is killing me, but I feel very satisfied.

Every once in a while, as the tractor sat idling while I loaded up another set of trees to pull down to the fire pile, I'd look over at the complicated (to me) mass of orange metal, and think to myself, its been a long time since I've been so pleased with a purchase, to own such a useful thing that just seems to work very well (except for the $#^&!#$@ seatbelt). I was afraid I'd be having buyer's remorse. Its a lot of money for something I had never before thought I needed. Now that I have it, and can look in any direction from my front door and see the changes I've already made using the tractor, I can't help but feel so glad I finally did the research and made the decision to buy this machine. I've had it for a little less than three weeks and I've put nearly half as many hours as I put on my JD all of last year.

I am also glad I have a wife who said, when she saw it, "I was wrong, we do need something like this for our yard, we should have bought this last year." And, she said, "You might as well get the Loader now, or you'll just regret it later."

Am I lucky, or what?

Glad to hear your enjoying your new tractor. The little BX's really are amazing machines. This weekend I used my BX1500 to dress up the gravel in the back of our office/shop at work after the hard rain the other day washed out a few large ditches in the driveway. I spent about 6 hrs Saturday leveling, scraping, spreading 12 yards of fresh gravel, and a few other odds and ends fixing the place up. A few of my co-workers came by while I was working with it and they were amazed at the little tractor and what I was able to do with it. Also, when I got to work today I got lots of questions about it too.

I'd not realized it, but you are absolutely right. No buyer's remorse. Pride in what you can do with the right equipment. My Father-in-law had dropped a couple hints that I might be making a mistake when I bought my Kubota - last night after moving 8 truck loads of dirt he said how impressed he was with 'that little tractor'. High praise coming from him.

Yea, it's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? Since I bought my BX2350 in March, I've already moved 200 tons of stone putting in a 450' driveway, and put in a 40x50' pad for the pole barn going in this week. This last weekend, I buried 250' of electric cable. That would've taken forever by hand. Took me 1 hour!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not only that, I've cleared some woods, mowed my grass, and waxed it 3 times...hehe....

I only have 28 hours on my BX2230 and, although I broke it this weekend, I am amazed and what I have been able to accomplish with it. It has incredible power for its size. Even my 20 year old step daughter has complimented me on how good the place looks. No small praise, coming from ANY 20 year old.

Although I wash it regularly, waxing it? That's just sick. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On second thought, maybe I will wax her when she gets back from the dealer. The least I could do for hurting her the way I did.

I had the same issue with an in-law. My mother-in-law had seen the Massey Ferguson GC 2300 that the local dealer had loaned me for a weekend before I bought the Kubota. When I told her they wanted nearly $13,000 for it, she was shocked--stating that she and her late husband had purchased much larger machines for a lot less money. When I asked her if they had 4-wheel drive? No. HST? No. Differential lock? HP? didn't know. Used when purchased? Yes. Reliable? Not really--he knew how to fix them because he'd been a hydraulics mechanic on semi's. I asked her to give me the number to the dealer where they bought these bigger machines for so much less money. After a few weeks of bothering her about it, and her telling me that she was still trying to find the number, I gave up.

She hasn't seen the new tractor, and I doubt she'll be impressed. Its so small, to her, for such a cost. And when they farmed, it was on flat land with no woods, and very little to landscape. They used their tractor for hard and real farm work, but no FEL, no grading, no pulling stumps.

Not at all unlike your mother in law, when I first started shopping for a tractor, I was shocked at the price. Seeing John Deere riding mowers, at Lowes, a nice one, for about $2,000, I figured to step up a bit from there, maybe $6,000. My guesstimate was a little bit short.

I was nearly blown out of even considering my BX24 when I saw the price, but after getting qoutes for some fairly light duty, but time consuming lot clearing at my business....I figured it would nearly pay for the tractor. I haven't started the lot clearing yet, I keep coming up with needs around the house. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
She definately earns her keep...and then some! I dug a trench and buried a 16" x 16' drain pipe last night...no telling how long it would have taken me to do that by hand. I'm completely spoiled by the BX now, and I'll never be able to do without one.
One side benefit is that working with the tractor is almost like riding my Harley...it requires enough concentration to take my mind off of work! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I whole heartily agree. I owned a BX2200 for 3 years and it was flawless. Put 250 hours on it doing maintenance on my 3 acres. I only wish I had it when I built my 30'x34' detached garage. I recently traded up to a BX23 and enjoy it even more.

My neighbor just purchased a BX2350 and mowed the grass for the first time this year. He use to have a small sears rider. He was amazed how enjoyable it is to mow the grass.

These machines are great! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I logged over 1000 hours on my BX 2200.
Dug a pond, moved hundreds of tons of rock, sand, dirt, and mulch. Mowing and landscaping. Paid for itself many times and had great resale value.

New BX23 has about 300 hours on it. Similar use, but less mowing. The backhoe would be hard to live without once you have one. Use it to dig stumps, lay irrigation and electrical lines, plant large trees (90 or so) and lift "things".

One of the more enjoyable things: At the end of a long day, my wife asks to go for a ride. We put a folded seat cushion over the PTO control area and she sits next to me. We cruise around the property to enjoy what we have built and make plans for future projects. The BX seems to enjoy the trips as well and almost knows its own way.

Tremendous value in my opinion.

Love my BX. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
