BX2230 Turf or Bar?

I've seen a number of "turf vs. bar" discussions, and less frequently "turf vs. industrial", but never "industrial vs bar". I'm certain I want one or the other for a BX23 I'm close to buying, but not sure which. How much less lawn damage will the industrials do, and how much traction will I be sacrificing?

I don't think the R4 industrial tire is available as an option for the BX...you probably will have to choose between bar and turf for a BX...

Has anybody found R4's for their BX? I have the turfs on my 2230 with 10 hours. I haven't even cut the lawn yet as it is still drying and warming, but have noticed flat, depressed grass wherever I have driven. I wouldn't trust Ags on my septic field, which I cut, but maybe an R4 would suit.

I have searched at length for different tire options for the BX and have come up empty. The sizes- especially the fronts- are a bit unique.
The "bar" tire option really is a combination of an R4 and ag tire. Fatter and with more flotation than a true ag, I believe Kubota chose that route foreclosing the need to offer a 3rd option for the BX line.

I Have what every one here is calling (Bar tires) on my BX. I Agree with all of the comments posted and recommended them to a friend of mine who purchased a BX last week. he is also happy.
Some interesting points.
The bar tires on the BX are Actually turf tires They are called Bar Turfs and are meant for use on turf. The structure width and flexibility of the tire actually makes them more a turf than an AG tire (skinny and hard) So BX tractors are really only available with turf tires (your choice of tread) This comes from my dealer and Kubota rep.
The (Bar tread) tires are not the best in the snow. Yes I was surprised. My dealer and Kubota recommend the (turf tread) for use in the snow. although, I drove through snow so deep with my bar tires last winter that the hydro would not move in high, but had no problem in low.
The dealer has both in stock for the same price so they would have no reason to lie.

Check the sizes on a JD 2210. For some reason I am thinking they are the same size as what's on a BX.
The rears are the same size but the fronts are 18x8.50x10 where the Kubota has 18x8.50x8 on the front.

Like others have mentioned, there are only two types of tires for the subcompacts - "turf" & "bar", both with the same overall width. Check my pics link below to see both types on my subcompact (It came in with turfs, and then I switched to bar). They are the same exact size as the tires on the BX.

I posted what I did above because the R4 tires are available on the John Deere 2210 but the fronts are a different size than what is on the BX, I do believe the tires are Maaxis. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The rims from the JD 2210 will fit the BX just fine. I would look for a change in Kubota tires in the fall also if your interested in a R4 type tire.
I have bars, but on a nice manicured lawn, I would prefer the bars. For just about everything else I would prefer the bars.
I dont mow too much lawn so the bars are just fine but I will still most likely get a set of turfs for the mowing.
