Hi group,

I've read a number of comments on these boards about the 3PT on a BX23 and how it's not a "real" 3 point hitch. What's not real about it? What's this about no position control? Is this to say that you cannot make the hitch go up and down? That wouldn't make any sense. I have a tractor now with a cat0 3pt (Wheel Horse D-180), and it has just one hydraulic control that makes it lift up or drop down. What functionality do I not know about that is missing on the BX23?

Thank you

What's this about no position control? it's either up or down. you are not able to set the height to the same exect level each time you drop it. not a true 3pt. yes it is just have to use attachments made for a sub comp tractor.

As far as I am concerned it is a true 3ph. I use a grader blade and a bush hog on mine. As far as no position control, that is a bit of a pain. It works a lot like the fel control, pull up it moves up, let go it stops, makes putting it at an exact height a little tough.

So, it's just a matter of not having "memory" posititioning, so to speak? Alright, I can live without that, considering my current 3pt doesn't have that, and I had never heard of such a thing. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thank you

You should also be careful about limited spread. There have been many, many posts in the past by BX owners frustrated that their 3 pt lower arms would not spread wide enough to accept a variety of Cat 1 implements. Available lift height can also be an issue with some implements.

Tim makes a good point. Two problems with using implements with the BX are the limited spread of the arms and the low stance of the tractor. The limited spread of the 3pt arms can make attaching an implement frustrating, and the low stance limits the amount you can raise the implement for transport. I use a Woods Estate rake on my BX, and can recommend it highly.

Kubota will wait until I buy a BX23 before they release the BX24 with these issues addressed. ****.

The ASAE spec for the 3-point hitch is just for the triangle geometry and pin sizes. That means the hitch pins on the arms are one size and the center link is a different size for each category. The spread of the lower arms is also defined. The BX meets these specs. What happens is some implements may require a wider spread to hook-up or they need to be higher off the ground than the BX can go. To some this means that this is a limited CAT 1 hitch. The BX has a true CAT 1 hitch but maybe limited as some implements may not have clearance to work properly.

Tisco makes a very short toplink- shorter than OEM. This is very useful in pivoting many attachments further off the ground. It worked wonders for my 5 ft Woods blade.

The BX-22/23 has a "Limited Category 1" (the real name) hitch. Limited mainly because of how far the arms will spread. For example, I put a real category-1 tiller on my bx-22, and I had to turn the pins from outside to inside to make it fit. After that, I had no problems, other than having to shorten the PTO shaft. You can lift the arms slightly without going all the way up, but you can't stop in the same place every time.
